Peter Wamsteeker

Peter Wamsteeker was promoted to glory on Saturday, October 6, 2018 surrounded by his family at his home in Calgary. Peter was born on January 20, 1934 in Amsterdam, Netherlands to Nicolaas Wamsteeker and Sara (Vermeer) Wamsteeker. He is lovingly remembered by his former wife, Elizabeth; three daughters, Terryl Wamsteeker, Teisa Wamsteeker and Traci Wamsteeker; three grandchildren, Stephanie, Colby and Kael; brothers and sisters; as well as many nieces and nephews. At age19, Peter moved to Canada and settled in Lethbridge working in the sugar beet industry. From there he worked at Zemans Produce in Calgary, Canfor Forest Products, Canwel Building Materials before retiring from Windsor Plywood. He loved working and when he retired spent many years building a home in Fairmont Hot Springs, British Columbia. Many of his weekends were spent travelling back and forth from Calgary to Fairmont. Peter was always there to help with carpentry projects or whatever else was needed. He also enjoyed reading, fishing/boating, being outdoors in the mountains and spending time with his three grandchildren. A special thank you to Nurse Next Door and Palliative Care for their loving care and support. Peter was a strong believer in donating blood and donated approximately 80+ times in his life. A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Baptist Church, 9920 Fairmount Dr SE, Calgary, AB T2J 0S4, on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 3:00 pm.

Dear family, Sorry for your loss. I wish you strength in this difficult time.. last June i met my Brother, I am so happy with the time we had together I will never forget that when I was at the deaf boarding school and he picked me up. He had a medical examination and then he emigrated to Canada. I miss my brother.

Peter is deerly loved by his family in Holland. He came to us many times and we came to Canada to see how he lived. We will all miss him, rest in peace dear brother. Brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews.
