SHERIF ELGUINDY
Sherif passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 after a short illness at the Rockyview Hospital, Calgary, Alberta while being treated for pneumonia. Sherif Elguindy was born on July 9, 1948 in Cairo, Egypt. He was the second son of Aziz Amin & Awatef (Azouz) Elguindy.
Sherif completed all of his education, including his B.Sc. in Physical Education in Cairo, Egypt.
He proudly served his mandatory five year military service in the Egyptian Air Force in the capacity of Sergeant In Charge of coding and decoding top secret messages. Once his military service was completed, he was offered and accepted a position as Manager, Recreation at the Abu Dhabi Hilton where he stayed for over one year and during that time applied for and was granted immigration to Canada in 1977. On his second day in Calgary he was offered a job at the Calgary Convention Centre and was never without a job after that. Sherif soon transferred to Security at the Glenbow Musem where he became the Supervisor, of 34 staff and warm memories always remained with him of his time there. Sherif always loved a challenge and gave 100% whether it was in his work or in his relationship with family and friends. Anyone who was privileged to know Sherif and have him as a friend was truly blessed.
Sherif met Vivian Lee Marsh who was the Assistant to the Director of the Glenbow Museum and it was love at first sight and they were married July 3, 1988 at her parents’ home in Sedgewick, Alberta and recently celebrated their 31st Anniversary.
Sherif was a gifted athlete who loved to play and watch soccer, especially the English Barclay’s League, loyal to the Calgary Flames and was a Life Bridge Master. He loved to cook and entertain and was known as a generous and attentive host. Because of his loving and open nature, children and animals were always drawn to him and he loved them all.
Sherif will be lovingly remember by his wife, Vivian Lee Marsh of Calgary; brothers, Emad (Irene) and Gamal Elguindy, both of Ontario; Nephew, Aziz Elguindy; Sister-in-law, Debra (Marsh) Pressley-Anderson (Raymond), Cody (Sarah) Anderson, Brett Anderson & Amber Pressley; Sister-in-law, Valetta (Marsh) Tym (Dale), Tara (Tym) Sitter, Renee (Tym) Hewitt (Jayden) & Chelsea (Tym) Housch (Justin); Brother-in-law, Dr. Glyn Marsh (Rachel), Dr. Glyn Marsh Jr.(Stephanie), Dr. Lauri (Marsh) Larson (Jerry) & Nicolas Marsh and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Messages:
Vivian: So sorry to learn of your loss. Although I did not know Sherif well, I do know that you and he shared a profound love of each other in an environment of many friends and relatives who share your grief and are there for you to lean on.
My dear uncle, I will miss you and can not believe you are really gone. I am full of regrets that the distance between us kept us from being a bigger part of each other’s life. I am however happy and proud you lived a good honest life and had the love of your life by your side from the moment you met till you parted. To know you went with a heart full of joy makes this all easier. You have me and Dean, Zoe and George with your blood running thru our veins! Your spirit will continue to carry on thru. There is a part of you in all of us. And please give your strength from paradise to our Aunt Vivian so she may carry on with the beautiful memories you shared. Let her laugh and reminisce more than she cries! Love always, your nephew Aziz Elguindy
Thank you Sherif for your kindness and vitality. I still remember your joy and sense of play while both working together at the Glenbow and rounding the bases at our many games of ball. best to you and yours. Thank you
Dear Vivian. We’ll never forget Sherif. If he hadn’t hired me in 1982, Ivan and I would never have met. We will forever hold his memory, sense of humour and contagious laughter in our hearts. Sincere and heartfelt condolences.

Being one who was blessed to be known as a friend of this most special soul all I can say is thank you and learn to be content with the gratitude I have for having been a small part of this”big” man’s life. Big in love, laughter, compassion and understanding. Immense in his knowledge of life and love, always there for friends, acquaintances, for anyone, for everyone. No greater love have I ever personally witnessed than the love of Sherif and Vivian and I know that even now he holds her up. An exquisitely charming, delightful, attentive and caring man. My life is better for his presence in it. Every moment of laughter, all the more precious.
Our deepest sympathy to you on our loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
May his soul Rest In Peace. I was privileged to have known him. He will be missed dearly.
Dear Vivan : I and Marlyne are very loss for your loss. I was privileged and honored that Sherif considered me a friend, we played million games of soccer and bridge hands and had a lot of fun. Unfortunately in later years we didn't see much of each other with family responsibilities and various health issues but I always fondly remember him with his great sense of humor and our ( He and I and Raheem and Ramzy ) boys night out at one place or another playing penny poker and bridge and eating kilos of sweets. We all ( every body who knew him ) will miss him. God bless him and you . Maged

May my condolences bring you comfort and my prayers ease the pain of your loss. Rehim
