A come and go gathering will be held on Sunday, February 17th from two to four p.m. 134 Scarboro Ave. Calgary. Remarks at 2:30.

Allan was a true life-long learner. He loved having a study focus.

His academic achievements included a B.A. Honors (Drama), B.Ed., (Queen’s University), Certificate in Early Childhood Education, M.A. Counseling (Gonzaga), M.Ed. (Portland), and a Doctorate in Psychology (California) Allan also received a provincial Excellence In Teaching Award.

He taught at Canyon Meadows school, Louis Riel, Dr. Oakley, and Dr. Gordon Townsend School in the Alberta Children’s Hospital.

Allan also was a curriculum writer, provincial exam marker, in-service provider and Calgary Teacher’s Convention speaker.

Upon retirement, Allan was a well-loved substitute teacher at Calgary Arts Academy.

Outside of teaching, Allan’s passions were dancing, disco music, and singing, as well as being a musical theatre aficionado, and movie lover. And off course, his love of Swiss Chalet and Cheesies were known by all. Allan also loved animals, especially dogs, as well as rabbits and cats.

Allan will be deeply missed by close Calgary friends Marion McMullen, Neil and Patti Martin and Brian Quiring and their families.

Interment will be in Kingston in the summer, where his many Kingston friends will gather.

Messages:

I am so sorry to hear about Allan's passing. I enjoyed working with Allan at the Children's Hospital and after he retired we would try to meet up at Swiss Chalet. I will miss his quick wit and our chats about cottage life in Ontario. My deepest sympathy to family and friends.

I was saddened to hear of Allan's sudden and early passing. I enjoyed working with Allan at Dr.Gordon Townsend School. He was a compassionate and knowledgeable teacher who treated his students and colleagues with great respect. He was a fun loving and caring member of the staff. He will missed by many and will leave a 'heart print' on those he touched. To all those who loved Allan, hold your memories close as you walk through this time of grief.

I was so sorry to hear of Allan's passing. I met Allan in 1979 when we were in the same Education class at Queen's. We both moved out to Calgary in the summer of 1980. We kept in touch for a number of years but unfortunately have not talked for the last few years. I did run into him at Teachers' Convention a number of years ago. He had a great sense of humor and was an amazing teacher. I know that he had a positive influence on so many students. My heart goes out to the family and friends. Hugs to all of you. He will be missed.
