HOWE, Donald Thomas

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Thomas Howe. Don passed away August 26, 2019 at the age of 61 years at the Calgary Foothills Hospital surrounded by his family and close friends after a long battle with a chronic illness. 

Don was born in Edmonton, AB on August 20, 1958.  He held a life-long love of mechanics, and he was an avid collector of cars and bikes. In his spare time, Don enjoyed spending his time with his family teaching them how to fish and ride horses. He also enjoyed heading out for long rides on his bike, often heading to the mountains to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Don frequently partook in the Radium Car Show each year, where he and his family would ready the cars and drive them up to the show for a weekend of fun and car “education.” Don loved a good laugh and he regularly enjoyed playing pranks on his family and friends, often through surprise water/shaving cream fights. There was never a dull moment with Don, and his absence will be sorely missed.

Don is lovingly remembered by a large family which includes his devoted wife, Julie of 40 years; his son, David (Whitney); his daughters, Cheryl (Aaron) and Michelle (Colten); and his 7 grandchildren, Noah, Kaleb, Grace, Isabelle, Logan, Bennett and Eli; along with his many life-long friends. Don is predeceased by his father, Thomas Howe and his mother, Leona Howe. 

A Celebration of Life was held for Don in Radium, BC on September 21, 2019 with close family and friends in true “Don” fashion – a car show, a bike ride, some laughs, and a trek to the head of a waterfall where the family wished him their final goodbyes.
