Mary Isabelle Jones

June 28th, 2019

Mary Isabelle Jones of Calgary passed away on the evening of Friday, June 28, 2019 at Brentwood Care Centre in Calgary at the age of 92 years.

Mary was born in St. Albert, Alberta on August 6, 1926, the third of five children to Laura and Angus Mac Donald. She married the dashing Dave Jones of Edmonton on August 14, 1953. In the following 10 years while Dave was working for Imperial Oil, they moved several times within northern Alberta and settled in Peace River where they remained until 1975. During the 10 years they had 5 daughters “The Jones Girls”, that Mary and Dave were extremely proud of.

Mary was a loving mother, a wonderful cook and gracious hostess. She loved to entertain, welcoming many friends through the years with fabulous meals and evenings of laughter over card games and charades.

Mary is lovingly remembered by her 5 daughters, Cathy (Larry), Lynda (Ron), Beverly (Roger), Terry (Glenn) and Barbara (David); 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; her brother, Father Don MacDonald OFM of Edmonton; and her sister-in-law, Lorraine MacDonald of St. Albert.

Mary was predeceased by her parents, Laura and Angus MacDonald; siblings, Mark, Jessie (Dick), Tony (Tillie), granddaughter Brooke Graversen; and her husband, of 46 years Dave Jones.

A Memorial Service will be held noon at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cochrane, Alberta on August 6, 2019 at 12:00. Condolences can be forwarded through Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services.

Messages:

Dear jones family, I want to offer you all my condolences for the lost of your mother Mary, and also Dave. I have been looking for you long time without success. Your both parents were really very good and open minded. I have many memories from your family and you the girls Terry, Barbara and Beverly with I had known closer during my stay in Saint-Albert during 1980-1981. I would like to get in touch with you. All my thoughts are with you. Best regards, Ben

It was a beautiful service. Mary would have been so proud of her beautiful family. I think I saw her smiling in the back of the church

Dear Lynda, Cathy, Bev, Terry and Barb. To you and your families we extend our sincere condolences. Your mom was so beautiful and gracious. She surely was proud of you all. God bless you.

To "The Jones Girls" and their families: My sincerest condolences on the passing of your Mother. She and I took Algebra 2 in the same class at St. Mary's High in Edmonton (1944-45). Then, when my family moved to Peace River in 1961, I again met Mary, but now we both had families. She was such a lovely lady! May she rest in peace.
