Sheila Margaret Rivers

April 21st, 2019

Rivers, Sheila Margaret

1948 - 2019

Sheila Rivers (Currie) passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 21st, 2019 after her battle with cancer, with her son, Scott, Isabelle and sisters, by her side.

Born on January 27, 1948 Sheila, daughter, of Maureen & Frank Currie was a native Calgarian and a proud Albertan!

Growing up in the community of Altadore, she was very athletic and loved to play organized baseball. Sheila started her career in oil gas and later began her own business in trophy and awards but found her true passion in horticulture.

Her kind and generous nature led her to always side with the underdog. Sheila spent a number of years donating her time to the Disabled Sailing Association of Alberta. She was passionate about politics. God help you if you were on the left side of the political spectrum; however, she would spend the time giving you perspective of the right of center view.

Sheila will be remembered for her sense of humor and wit and will be admired for her great strength and attitude displayed during challenging times and adversity.

Sheila is survived by her son, Scott (Isabelle); grandchildren, Logan and Mason; siblings, Maureen (Jim), Irene (Bob), Ron (Michael), Anne, Joan (Joe); all of her many nieces and nephews; her extended family, Joe (Martha) Dean; the Rivers' family and all of her friends at the Wedgewoods.

A special family only Celebration of Life service will be held to celebrate Sheila’s life.

Thank you to the Foothills Hospital, Unit 46 and the Sarcee Hospice. Your compassion and professionalism were amazing.

So very sad to hear of Sheila’s passing after her courageous battle with cancer. May the Spirit enfold you all with love as you embark on your journey of grief and loss. Sheila and I worked together in the late 60’s at an oil and gas company, worked hard but also had a lot of fun. I was so pleased to reconnect with her at The Wedgewoods. Sorry to hear of your Mothers passing Scott. Lots of good memories from years ago when we were all much younger

Sheila touched so many lives and in such a profound way. No matter how busy she was she always found the time to lend a hand, have a friendly chat, and she never failed to leave us laughing with her hilarious sense of humor. I don't think Sheila had any idea just how much we all cherished her and how very special she was. Dearest Sheila, I miss you dearly. Thank you for making such a positive difference in my life. Much love always, xxoo.
