Marion Charlotte Schwaier

June 11th, 2019

It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of Marion Schwaier after a brave battle with lung cancer at the age of 70. Marion was a wonderful much-loved mother of two sons. We feel incredibly lucky and thankful beyond words for all the memories that she has given us. We would also like to express sincere gratitude to those who prayed or sent their condolences during this difficult time.

Marion was born Jan 10, 1949, in Calgary, Alberta to Nels and Irma Runnalls.  After graduating from business college she was accepted into the Canadian Armed Forces in 1970 as an administrative clerk. She took great pride in the new position,  her father had served and was a Canadian Airforce veteran.

After some years, she left the Armed Forces and moved to Drumheller with her mother. Marion loved to travel, swim and enjoyed spending time in England and Hawaii.

Waitressing at the corner restaurant is where she would meet and marry in marriage to Frank Schwaier. They would move back to Calgary and Marion would start a new job as a stenographer for the government. She gave birth to two sons, Ian and Lorne Schwaier. She then retired from work to dedicate all her time to her children. The couple later divorced.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting and listening to the music of Elvis Presley and Rod Stewart, She loved fashion and owned a collection of hats for each day of the week. She will be remembered for her warm smile and contagious laughter that would attract the attention of everyone in the room. She was a caring and nurturing mother and friend. She will be forever loved and missed dearly.

A Graveside Service will be held at Drumheller Municipal Cemetery, Drumheller, AB on Monday, June 24, 2019 at 1:00 PM. A luncheon will follow at the Drumheller Royal Canadian Legion, 295 Centre St, Drumheller, AB at 2:00 PM.
