SMITH, Allan

September 22,1942 - September 25, 2019

It is with deeply saddened hearts the family of Allan Francis Smith (Smitty) of Granum, announce his passing on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at the age of 77 years in Claresholm, Alberta.

He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Patty of 55 years; his daughters, Tammy (Darren) Semeniuk, Marni (Gord)  Lane; grandson, Dawson Lane and sister, Judy (Hartford) Wells and family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Les Smith and Marj Chapman.

Smitty loved rodeo, hunting, camping and fishing. He loved his family unconditionally and was always ready to offer advice even if we didn't want to hear it; but it turned out he would be right. Rodeo was a passion, if there was a rodeo or bullriding on TV he would be watching.  He volunteered at the Stavely Rodeo for several years getting stock ready for the chutes.  Camping and Fishing were a summertime must. We spent lots of summers in the mountains and cherish the good times we had.  He taught Dawson how to fish and they even had their own special spot.

Allan worked for Schlosser and Fancy Ranching until moving to work at the A7 Blacktail Ranch west of Stavely.  He loved the cowboy way of life.  After leaving the A7 he worked for George White fencing before starting his own fencing business until he retired.

Allan will always be remembered for his love, kindness and knowledge.  He will be forever missed and always in our hearts.

At Smitty's request  no service will be held.  A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stavely Rodeo or Stavely and District Agriculture Society.
