Barbara Tootell
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother on Monday, January 28, 2019.
Eileen Anne Barbara was born June 13, 1936 in Preston, England. She married the love of her life Bert in 1956. They moved to Fort Saint John, BC with their two children in 1974. She loved working with children at the Child Development Centre, and later with her own daycare. They moved to Airdrie, AB and eventually retired. Some of Barb’s favourite things were birdwatching, singing, poetry, church, shopping and wearing hats.
Barb is survived by her children Jonathan Tootell (Kristine) and Amanda Doll (Trevor) & grandchildren, Sara, Nathaniel, Brandon and Savannah. Barb was predeceased by her husband Bert and grandson Kevin.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Living Springs Church, Airdrie, AB on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 1:00 PM.

We are so sorry to hear of Barb's passing. She was a vibrant woman and a very good friend who gave us many happy moments and fond memories.
How very kind and thoughtful of you to post Barb’s passing in the Alaska Highway News. We remember her with great fondness and she and Bert still creep back into our conversations from time to time. They were super people, always cheerful and friendly. And they were always busy going about their lives. We’d bump into them at the theater, choir, shopping, bazaars, bird watching. They were both lovely people and the world is a little less friendly now that Barb is no longer here. Our kind regards to her wonderful family.
Amanda and Johnathan and families. I am so saddened to hear of your Moms passing. She was my only link to my Moms Family in England. We will miss her jolly laugh and her many stories she has told me. We both had a keen interest in the birds she seen on her outings and her talking bird book was one of her favorite presents she had received. I still have a tape of her reciting a poem at Mom and Dads 50th and enjoy it so much. We must all remember she is with your Dad and out of pain now and in a place where everything is wonderful.
We were sorry to hear of Barbara passing. She was a wonderful person with a big heart. When we got together for tea she got the China cups out & I brought the Shortbread. Her & Burt were wonderful thoughtful neighbors on Summerfield Blvd. She had a wonderful sense of humor. We hope your memories will ease the pain of your loss. You are in our thoughts.
Amanda and Jonathan, So sorry to hear about your mom! She had such a great smile and laugh. I have many memories of spending time with all of you but one stand out memory of your mom is dancing around the family room with her to "Bette Davis eyes"! Big hugs to all of you.
Your dear mother was such an inspiration and very kind hearted. We always joked about being Gemini and good movies! She will be sincerely missed and thought fondly of. RIP Barbara. Love Cheryl
So sorry to hear about your mother. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Sending our condolences on the passing of your Mum and Grandmother. She was a beautiful lady, a wonderful friend & the sister to me (Linda) that I never had. We laughed together, cried together, had such fun together and talked about our Father who took care of “His girls”. Even after we moved back to Ontario it was such a blessing to me to know she was as close as a phone call & I could just pop in for a visit with her. Whether we sat chatting or in perfect silence, I always felt her love & acceptance. I will miss her very much. I know this is a hard time for you all and I am praying for your comfort and strength as you go through this grief. Love, Linda & John
Jonathan & Amanda and family, we are so sorry to hear about the passing of your dear mother. She was a beautiful spirit filled person with a most loving heart. She was a blessing to so many, including us. We have so many fond memories of her and your Father. They will be forever in our hearts and you are in our prayers. May all the good memories comfort you at this time. So sorry we are unable to make it to the celebration of life ceremony. You will all be in our thoughts though. Hugs Marcel & Kim
Barbara you were such an amazing person full of life & smiles we only met a couple of times but I will never forget you xxx
I was very sad to learn only yesterday of Barbara's death. I worked with Barbara many many years ago in Chorley tax office in England when we were both in our twenties. I have memories of her jolly spirit and when we had lunch together from the office when Barbara would announce "Lets go burst a pudding"". This was our favourite lunch---steak pudding and chips!! Happy memories of our youthful days. I never saw her after she left work and had her children but heard she had emigrated to Canada. She was a lovely lass who brightened up the dreary tax office where we worked. RIP Barbara. Irene Irvine
