The family of Murray Wilcox sadly announces his passing on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the Chinook Hospice in Calgary, Alberta. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side.
Murray is lovingly remembered by his loving wife, Barb; and their family, Corey (Jackie), Jay, Chris (Andrea), Kelly (Christy), Val (Mark), Darlene (Frank), Kim (Rob); grandchildren, Emma, Meghan, Ella, Sophie, Dustin, Stephanie (Joe), Kai, Karlene, Katrina, Chelsie; great grandson, Jackson; the mother of Murray’s children, Heather MacQueen; brother, Russ (Liz); and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Aaron and parents, Helen and Stanley.
Murray was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan. He later attended University of Alberta and graduated with a Petroleum Engineering Degree. He was a member of APEGGA, Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists, and Geophysicists of Alberta, and the Old Timers Association. His 40 year career in the oil and gas industry gave him and his family the opportunity to live and travel throughout the world extensively.
Murray was a talented musician and was honored to play the bass violin with the Regina Symphony Orchestra. He had a passion for being active, camping, and spending winters in Arizona. Murray was affectionately known as the squirrel whisperer amongst his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Prince of Peace Community Centre, 285030 Luther Rose Blvd, NE, Calgary, AB T1X 1M9 on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 11:00 am.
