Casey was born in Medan, Indonesia in February of 1931 as his father was stationed there at the time.  He was a young boy in Holland during World War II when it was occupied by the Nazis. He did his basic education at The Hague in Holland and completed his Marine Engineering training at Groningen Holland.  He worked four years as a Marine Engineer for United Netherlands Navigation two years on steam powered ships and two years on diesel powered.  He moved to Canada in 1956 and eventually ended up working at the Home Oil Gas Plant by Carstairs starting in 1960.  He helped to build and run the gas plant and eventually worked his way up to Plant Superintendent.  After 35 years Casey took early retirement at age 55 and he and Lila spent the next few years traveling with their new Diesel pickup and fifth wheel trailer.  They did a lot of volunteer work for Habitat for Humanity both internationally and in Canada.  Casey spent 6 weeks as a consultant in Pakistan to help with the start-up of their sour natural gas plant.  He was an avid wood worker and always had some kind of project on the go.  Casey was a devoted husband and was devastated by the passing of his wife Lila earlier this year.

Casey’s Graveside Service will be held at the Carstairs Cemetery on Friday, August 28, 2020  at 1:00pm. Please note a maximum of 100 people may attend and all social distancing procedures will be in place.
