Georgina Viola Kirton

Georgina Viola Kirton (Higgins), 79, of Airdrie, Alberta, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 with her family by her side, after a short battle with cancer at Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta.
Georgina was born on July 27, 1941 to Austin and Louise Higgins, the eldest of 14 siblings, in Londonderry, Nova Scotia. At the age of 18, she headed west to Toronto, Ontario where she met and married Frank Kirton. They had 5 children.
Georgina is survived by her 3 children, Gary Kirton (Sherri Kirton) Laura Mattie (Troy Mattie) and Lynne Gaucher. Georgina also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, Christopher Freeland (Kerrie Bell), Jonathon Freeland (Melissa Freeland), Nicolas Moore, Sarah Rose (Matthew Rose), Daniel Senger (Madison Senger), Denton Kirton (Kayla Hendry), Dallas Kirton, Zachary Kirton, Matthew Gataric, Benjamin Gataric, Jacob Mattie, Jordan Alyward and Connor Gaucher; as well as 10 great-grandchildren. Georgina was predeceased by her parents, Austin and Louise; oldest son, Joseph; and her daughter, Catherine.
Georgina enjoyed reading, baking, gardening, sewing, crocheting, knitting and socializing with a few good friends. She enjoyed spending time with her beloved animals, Chase, Teka, Chloe, Butters and Max.
Georgina will be truly missed by all who knew her.
