Yves "Joe" John LeSann
December 16th, 2020
We wish to announce the passing of Yves (Joe) LeSann. September 5-1930 to December 16-2020. Joe passed away peacefully at home in the arms of his lifelong partner, Ellie.
Joe was born and raised on the farm on the Saskatchewan prairies and later chose pipeline construction as his career path which took him halfway across the country at one time or another. Joe also earned himself a very well respected name in the industry and mentored many people throughout his career which spanned over 50 years. Joes name is still mentioned frequently within the industry.
Upon retirement, a great amount of time was spent doing what he loved. Joe always had a passion for antiques. Road trips were a normal event for Joe and Ellie, travelling through the Western provinces in search of restoration projects which would keep him occupied for months at a time.
Joe is survived by his wife of 62 years (Ellie), 4 children (Dean, Kelvin, Christina, Denise) and was predeceased by eldest son (Rene 1991).
Due to the COVID restrictions there will be no formal funeral service at this time with a celebration of life service being planned for Summer 2021.
If you have a good story, please feel free to share.
Messages:
Ellie & Family, Our Deepest Sympathy’s to all of you on the loss of your Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather. Rest In Peace Joe.
So sorry for your loss. Condolences from all of us!! Sad we can’t be there..
Elle & Family, so sorry for your loss.
Hi Dad, It is with a heavy heart I send this final farewell to you. Growing up, and with the nature of your work, it was a “normal” upbringing for you to be gone for months at a time.. but the absence that I’m feeling and the loneliness of knowing you won’t be back home this time is overwhelming. Dad, I want to thank you for instilling in us your commitment to family, work ethic and ensuring we do the best job we can. You were the best provider that any family could hope for, all the sacrifices you made from being away was to make sure we never went without. I know you wouldn’t settle for sloppiness, or doing a half assed job, that didn’t fit your criteria, “damn it anyways!” you’d say. For that, I thank you. I wanted to recall a conversation you and I had this past Father’s Day. You were in the Foothills Hospital and I came to visit with you, it was not a good day for you, you were nearing the end of radiation treatment and your body was tired and you were fed up, but I asked you to stay strong and positive, if ever there was a time to show your stubbornness and who’s boss, now would be a great time. As I told you on that day, I wasn’t ready to not have a dad anymore. I needed you to fight. Thank you Dad for giving us another 6 months with you, wished it was longer but that was not to be. Life with you was a journey, sometimes bumpy, but a road I’d travel all over again. Well dad, there are so many things about you that I miss already, your sarcasm, your humour, and your quick wit. Of course, just having the opportunity to talk with you, whether it was shooting the breeze or fatherly advise. We were so blessed to have you for all those years; I was so proud you were my dad. It will be a strange and lonely Christmas this year. Until we meet again. R.I.P dad!!! Love, Dee-Dee.
Condolences to the family,he will be sadly missed by all that knew Joe. Ellie so sorry for your loss.
Ellie , please except condolences from Liz and myself and all our Shearer and pipeline families. Take care girl.
Condolences from the Gillam’s. Joe was truly inspirational, a true example of a gentleman, and a real pleasure to have worked with/for. It is true he was a great mentor and anyone that got to meet him, and especially know him, was a better person for it. Rest In Peace Joe, and heartfelt feelings to all of the family. ‘Goddammit anyways!’ lol, never forget that about Joe.
My mother and I were neighbours with Joe and Ellie for 20 some years. I’m so sorry for the loss of Joe.
Ellie. Sorry for your loss, condolences to you and your family Norman, Joyce and Family.
Joe was a great man and mentor. I learned a lot from him while working for Henuset pipelines. I will always remember his dry, but great sense of humor. My condolences to Miss Ellie and the the family. A sad loss for all who had the privilege of working or spending time with Joe.
