Helen Gladys Prouty
November 5th, 2020
In loving memory of our wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Helen Prouty.
Helen is survived by her husband Bill, son Danny (Candice), daughter Michelle (Brian) and daughter in law Christine. She is survived by her grandchildren Chad, Jennifer, Nick, Joel, Hannah, Miranda, Matthew and Karson. She is survived by great grandchildren Hunter, Chase, Myles and Dominic. She leaves also foster sons Orten & Cory Machimity and family.
Mom also had a special companion, Jake who took great care of her during her 8 months in hospice. He would give her daily cuddles and kisses and knew exactly how to comfort her.
Helen is predeceased by her son, Scott, parents Jean Mines and Leslie McKenzie, and step father Bob Mines.
Helen was born in Fort William, Ontario and further was raised in Upsala, Ontario. At the age of 14 she and her Mom Jean moved to Glasgow, Scotland where she had the thrill of her life seeing the Beatles live in concert. She later moved back to Canada and soon after met the man who would be by her side until the time of her passing, her husband of 52 years Bill.
Helen raised three children, worked as a homemaker, a bartender, and for many years a Foster Mother for many children needing a place to call home.
Mom loved to fish, bowl, play pool, bingo and also softball, although her true joy was family. Growing up as an only child, her family was the most important to her. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and we were always blessed with a tray of goodies consisting of her shortbread cookies, mincemeat tarts, macaroons and butterscotch confetti cake. No other presents were necessary, that was always her ultimate gift to us.
A small family gathering is planned for the summer to celebrate Mom's life.
"Mothers hold their childrens hands for awhile, but their hearts forever"
