Jarvis Ross
August 26th, 2020
1976 - August 26, 2020
With broken hearts we must announce that Jarvis was taken from us far too soon at the age of 44. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Nadia Graham Ross; his daughter, Sylvia; his mother, Glenda; his brothers, Thomas and Tyler; his sister-in-law, Dorothy (Jeff); niece, Haley; and nephews, Connor, Carter, and Lucas. Jarvis will be joining his beloved family; dad, Jim Ross; grandpas, Don, Thomas, and Mike; grandmas, Eileen and Violet, and Uncles Dennis, Wade, and Bill.
His large and loving extended family includes his aunts, uncles and their families, Sharon, Randy, Cheryl (Larry), Nancy, Glenn, Valerie (Martin), Clara (Wayne), Robb (Tannis), Cindy (Terry), Tricia (Ernie), and Michael (Kathy). Jarvis will be missed by many special lifelong friends, who were also family to him. Jarvis was a well-respected Millwright, most recently at the Nutrien plant in Carseland. His colleagues past and present will greatly miss him.
In his youth, Jarvis was a celebrated athlete in football, wrestling, and many other sports. He loved superheros, especially Spiderman and Wonder Woman. Jarvis had a love of music from an early age, describing his favorite genre as "good" music. He enjoyed many concerts, everything from Ben Harper to Lamb of God.
Later in life, Jarvis loved the outdoors especially with his wife and daughter. Sylvia will always remember Dad's encouragement to "Get back up and try again". Snowboarding, hiking, and camping always brought a smile to his face. To his family's surprise, Jarvis developed an interest in cooking, eventually becoming the self-proclaimed best barbequer on the block. Jarvis's paradise on earth was Waimanalo Bay in Hawaii. Jarvis and Nadia were married there and returned for several trips over the years with family and friends. Jarvis even learned the Hula and how to wear a sarong with confidence.
The family is extremely grateful to Dr. Robert Cummings and colleagues in the Chinook Professional Tower, good samaritans and Calgary First Responders who all tried very hard to keep Jarvis and his huge heart here with us. It is comforting to know he was not alone in his time of need.
Private Ceremonies will be held to celebrate Jarvis's life in Calgary and Regina. If so desired, Jarvis can be remembered through memorial donations to Between Friends (betweenfriends.ab.ca), or charities supporting first responders.
Like the wings stolen from an angel
Like petals gone from a rose
LIke a dove caught in a storm
Tonight he is in the Lord's arms
The wind it blew straight through us
And whispered to me in tongues
I was told I was warned
Tonight he would be in the Lord's arms
Tonight he is in the Lord's arms
Now I drink this wine to him
With each glass a memory
He left me with his crown of thorns
Tonight he is in the Lord's arms
(In the Lord's Arms, Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, 1999)
Messages:
Nadia, I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your husband, Jarvis. You and your family are in my thoughts during this truly difficult time. May you take comfort with the friends and family that surround you.
My friendship with Jarvis began at the outset of high school and has continued my whole life. During the age of 14 plus, our group of friends were discovering who we were and what we wanted out of the world. We all shared many common experiences and had an immense effect on each other’s lives. I am very grateful that in some way he helped build character in each of us, and I believe that our mothers were grateful for his influence as well. Although he later chose to make Alberta his home, on our camping or snowboard trips it would only take a couple of minutes of being together in order to establish the familiarity and comradery of a friend who lives just down the street or even what I envision it would be like to have a brother. I will always value the good times we had growing up and how that evolved into sharing family trips with our wives and children. Jarvis embodies everything a good person should be and I am proud to have had him call me a close friend for so long. Rock on buddy, Ch
I am so sorry yo hear about Jarvis passing. My condolences to Glenda and family
Glenda❤️and all those who loved Jarvis.. we are so, so sorry for your loss. There are no words to express how sad we are for you... Jackie and Ron
Taken so young and to soon. My prayers are with Jarvis’ wife, daughter and family.
I struggle to find the words to express what Jarvis meant to all of us that knew and loved him. I’ve been hearing his laugh and seeing his smile for days now. My heart aches when I listen to our favourite songs as he and I shared the love of so many bands. We had some of the greatest times of our lives together growing up as kids and then sharing our families together as we grew older. This will be a giant hole in our lives for many years to come. From his Brothers back home, we love you so much Jarvis!! You will be loved, respected and missed until we see you again, you will always be in our hearts and memories.

He was always so full of life to the brim , a true friend with an incredible ability to make everything experienced so much fun. Glenda, Thomas, and Tyler, I am so sorry to hear this news. Jarvis was one of my best friends growing up and it always has saddened me that we lost touch after high school. RIP Jarvis, many good memories of times in the playground, on bikes in the neighborhood and in battle on the football fields together. Sad to learn this news.
Good bye for now Jarvis Ross! Rest in piece my friend.
Jarvis was always so kind to me. I didn't know my cousin as well as I would have liked, but I know he was, and will continue to be, loved by so many.
So sorry for your loss. Gone to soon.
As much as I want to be sad and angry for having lost such a good friend, I’ll do my best to be inspired by his life instead. Jarvis was the strong, silent type. He spoke through actions more than words. He was a man’s man..... Didn’t take shit from anybody, but was one of the kindest souls I’ve ever met. The world would be a much better place with more people like Jarvis in it. You’ll be missed brother. I promise we’ll think of you often and try to be better in your honour.
We are so sorry for your loss. Jarvis grew up to be such a kind and giving young man. I will never forget his "put me in a web, Ed, put me in a web!"
My deepest sympathy to you Nadia and Sylvia, Dorothy and Jeff, his Mother and Brothers. Jarvis will be deeply missed but not forgotten as he was a man who was greatly loved. Take care.
Dear Nadia, Such a sad time. Jarvis and yourself made such a wonderful duo. We send all our love to you. May you feel God's peace during this difficult time. Much Love from, Glen, Shannon, Grace and Emily
I send my condolences to you and to your family during this time of sorrow. The Bible gives a real hope and it promises that your loved one will soon come back to life in a peaceful paradise on the earth. (John 5:28, 29)
Jarvis He was the new kid at Rosemont School in the late 80's. Jarvis was described as Tall, Dark and Handsome by all the girls. He was quiet yet intensely passionate with sports and music. I have an early memory, (Grade 6) I believe... playing volleyball against him. I went up to block his spike and got it right in the face! I suffered some broken blood vessels as a result. We were both equally proud of this scar! I also have fond memories of playing soccer together on a community team that his Dad Jim stepped in and helped coach. I'm pretty sure we won Gold that year! Team WZSA! Everyone who knew him loved him. I enjoyed a few parties in high school at the Ross' home too. Lots of good times there. I knew Jarvis as a supportive and loyal to his friends, a protective big brother and caring & respectful son. It is no surprise that he is an awesome uncle and a loving and devoted husband and father. My heart aches for this great loss.
