NORQUAY, William

October 23, 1960 - September 22, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Rod Norquay at the age of 60 years. Rod passed away peacefully at home with his brother, Kyle by his side.

Rod was the second child and first son born to William (deceased) and Carrie Norquay. Soon after Rod was born in Edmonton, Alberta, the family moved to Manitoba. Rod attended and completed his schooling in Thompson, Manitoba and at the age of 19 returned back to Alberta. He started working in his long-term career field of natural gas and lived in the towns of Lacombe, Sylvan Lake, and Red Deer before settling in Airdrie in 2003. In his spare time Rod enjoyed fishing, camping, golfing, billiards and assembling puzzles in which he framed and displayed some of his favorites. Rod was a great pool player winning many trophies, awards and tournaments throughout the years. The owners, staff and customers at “Bogeys” will surely miss seeing Rod come around. Rod loved watching sports on TV, mainly the Blue Jays, curling and Nascar racing. Rod loved his job and was a great Field Operator for Canlin Energy Corporation, his colleagues and employer will sadly miss him as an employee and friend.

Rod was predeceased by his father, William Norquay. He is lovingly remembered by and leaves to mourn his passing, his mother, Carrie; daughter, Jennah (Todd); grandchildren, Zailin and Danika; sisters, Darlene (Daryl), Shauna, Stacey, Mathew and Sarah; Charlene (Tony); Breanne and Kara;   brothers, Calvin and Kyle; Jonathan and Matthew and extended family.

The family would like to thank Rod’s friend Billy and neighbor Vern for all their help when Rod was ill and for the friendship over the years. Thank you to all the Doctors, Nurses and Home Care nurses, especially Tanya and Katrina for their patience and genuine care they showed Rod. No Service is planned and cremation has taken place. Thank you to the staff at Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services for their professionalism and compassion. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, please consider donating to the Canadian Cancer Society, 200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB T2E 3T6.

“Brother, you left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide,

and though we cannot see you, you’re always at our side.

Our Family chain is broken and nothing seems the same,

But as God calls us one by one,

The chain will link again”
