June 20th, 2021

George Priftis will be lovingly remembered and missed after his passing on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at the age of 94. His stories, delicious Greek salads, and caring personality will be remembered by his wife, Beverly Priftis; his two children, Tony Priftis and Cynthia Priftis (Pat McGannon); and his grandchildren, Alexa McGannon and Sloan McGannon; as well as many friends and neighbors. George Priftis was born in Corfu, Greece, where he joined the Greek Airforce. finishing his term, he emigrated to Canada in 1952. He had many adventures throughout Canada before settling in Calgary. His career as an airplane mechanic fostered his passion for airplanes. George also had a liking for convertibles, driving his bright blue convertible until the end. He married Beverly Calder in 1956, and they were happily married for 65 years, raising two children. George was a man who enjoyed life, people, and most of all family, which was very important to him as he lost both of his parents at a young age. George lived an active and adventurous lifestyle, always gardening and shoveling others snow, even in his 90s! His generous personality and his willingness to help others will be cherished and remembered forever. His family is lucky to have had someone as special as him for so long. As per George’s request, no Funeral Service will be held. In lieu of flowers, George and his family would appreciate donations to the Calgary Humane Society, https://www.calgaryhumane.ca/donate/, 4455 110 Ave SE, Calgary, AB T2C 2T7.
