Weigum, Douglas
August 1, 1948 – January 14, 2021
Doug passed away after a seven-year courageous battle with cancer. Born in Swalwell, raised on the farm in Sunnyslope, he started his welding apprenticeship in Linden and then at Renn Cupid in Calgary; starting a portable welding business in 1979. He worked at many gas plants and facilities throughout Alberta and enjoyed golfing after work at countless courses. He retired in 2014.
Doug loved his work, but he also enjoyed rodeo, golfing, skiing, boating, camping, biking, hiking, playing cards and travelling. He was an extremely good sport in accommodating Lorraine’s travel follies. He was involved in his children’s sports and was passionate about the grandkid’s activities.
He leaves behind many who will miss him, his wife, Lorraine, of 49 years; children Tyler (Jackie) and Penny (Jeff); his mother Alvina, two brothers, Keith (Dorothy), and Dale; five grandchildren, Miikka, Dion, Kate, Ben and Luke; four nieces and nephews, Gary, Tanya, Mac, and Tiffiny; sister in law, Nadine (Phil) and many wonderful extended family and friends. Doug was predeceased by an infant son, Patrick and his father, Paul.
Many thanks to Dr. A Jackson and the wonderful caring staff in Didsbury hospital. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Didsbury Resident and Family Council (Didsbury Hospital) at Bag 130 Didsbury, AB, T0M 0W0. A private family service will be held.

Hello Lorraine & Families; We are so very sorry to hear of Doug's passing. He did fight a good battle and finally could fight no longer. His battle is over, but yours will go on for awhile. The heart aches, the tears and feeling lost will last for some time... but slowly you will gain back your strength once again and the sun will shine in your heart and you will begin to smile again at all the wonderful memories you and Doug had created and lived...He will forever be missed. Take Care, Debbie & Bob
