CARMICHAEL, Krista Lynn
May 16, 1973 - July 10, 2022
Krista Carmichael of Madden, Alberta passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022 at the age of 49 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her best friend and husband of 21 years, Jason Carmichael; their two children, Paige and Grady; her parents, Terry and Pauline Barrows; her brother, Ryan Barrows (Ellie Colver); and niece, Julie Colver. As well as, Jason’s parents; Glen & Martha Carmichael; sister-in-law, Tina (Brad) Young; nephew, Jackson; brother-in-law, Travis Carmichael; sister-in-law, Tara Carmichael; niece, Makayla Schwarz; and nephew, Mason Schwarz, will also forever hold Krista as a part of their families.
Krista’s love spread beyond blood to include friends from communities throughout the region and across the country, all of whom will miss her dearly. Krista was everyone’s mother & close friend, giving guidance and spreading light to anyone that was lucky enough to have crossed her path. She was an exceptional nurse for 27 years, who made a positive difference to the staff and patients of the Foothills Hospital Cardiac Intensive Care Unit for 13 years; followed by 14 years in Transition Services also at the Foothills Hospital.
Krista chose to shine even after all the storms she had been through. She was the thread that held her community together giving her support to anyone; including her children, their sporting teams, and their friends and families. She had an infectious and gorgeous smile, a listening ear and motherly care for anyone that entered their home. This, mixed with an insane appetite to ‘drag anyone into fun’, made Krista the one everyone wanted to spend time with. Krista’s legacy will continue to inspire others through her beautiful spirit, showing that we all can be better humans by giving selflessly to others.
Special thanks to the Foothills Hospital staff in the Intensive Care Palliative Unit #47 for their incredible support and care of our Krista. In lieu of gifts or flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 200-325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 2P5 or the Carmen Knittig Memorial Golf Tournament, supporting Kids Up Front.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honour Krista’s incredible life at Madden Community Hall on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 5:00PM.
Messages:
Jason, Paige and Grady, we are so very sorry to hear of Krista's passing. We know that she was the heart of your family and that you will all miss her so very much. It is wonderful that you have so many good people surrounding you at this time - family, friends and the community that you are so actively involved in. Our most heartfelt sympathy.
I met Krista through Kristen McNaughton and knew right away she was a kindred spirit. Lots of laughs and fun at the Calgary Stampede and then a lovely visit with Jay, Paige and Brady when they visited Vancouver a few years ago. Social media let us keep up with each other's lives and it's unbelievably sad how her cancer came back. She was a beautiful, lovely person and gone way to soon. My thoughts are with all of her family and close friends at this difficult time.
Sending so much love strength and hope to you all now and in the days that come. Holding a special space in our hearts for Krista, Jason, Paige and Grady.
Condolences, prayers and healing energy being sent to Krista's family , friends and extended family. Hugs to you all.
Oh Krista, I cant even begin to tell you what you mean to this family. You were the first person to welcome our family to RMAA Hockey, you were the first be give me a hug when I needed it, and we adore your family so so much. Grady and Bren only played 1 season together and bonded right away. Paige, you were amazing dealing with these boys when you were here playing hockey. Jason thank you for everything you have done for us. We love all of you, and my heart breaks knowing you are gone. You always supported sports for Bren, even when the kids were not together, I love you very much, Rest In Peace my dear friend. I will never say goodbye to you, cause it is only a see you later!
I was so very sad to hear of Krista's passing. I had the real pleasure of working with her in the CICU at the Foothills Hospital (I was part of the management team). She took excellent care of her patients and was a joy to be around. She had a great sense of humor (which you often need to work in a hospital) which I will fondly remember. She was a beautiful person inside and out who will clearly be missed by so many. My thoughts are with you all. Rachel

My deepest condolences to your family. I worked with Krista in CCU just around the time she got engaged to a farrier from Madden. I new exactly where that was ❤️. Our thoughts are with Krista's family and friends during this very difficult time. She will leave a large hole in many lives.
Jason, Paige and Grady, We were truly sorry to hear about Krista's passing. I don't need to tell you what an amazing person and mom she was. We have some really great memories of spending time with all of you! Krista was one spunky lady and I personally admired her ability to transform from City Slicker to full on Country Gal. She embrassed life and she had a sense humor that was contagious. We shared many giggles! We have quite a few good photos in our family album of the" kids". Please know that we share in your grief and you have our support if ever you need it. Robyn, Don and Fraser
