DICKSON,Betty
July 28, 1927 – January 15, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Mum, Betty Dickson (nee Glass) at her home in Calgary on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at age 94, with family by her side.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Betty married her much loved husband Johnnie in 1950 and in 1961 they and their two sons Ken and Ron emigrated to Calgary, Canada, where their third son Norm, was born in 1968.
In addition to making a wonderful home for her family, Betty also volunteered and later worked as a school aide at Braeside Elementary, John Ware Junior High and Chinook Park Elementary for many years, always enjoying her interactions with teachers and students. She was loved by staff and students alike for her kindness, beautiful smile and the twinkle in her eye. She and Johnnie loved camping and boating, beginning their travels in a humble camper van, ultimately enjoying the convenience of a motorhome. She was a fantastic baker, making many delicious desserts and cookies that everyone in the family looked forward to. She also loved knitting, gardening and growing her own vegetables. After retirement they continueD travelling, many times visiting the Fountain of Youth spa RV Resort in the US. Betty was a wonderful grandma, taking great delight in the time she spent with her grandchildren, celebrating their accomplishments and always open to them showing her the latest in technology.
Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband Johnnie in 2006 after 56 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her sisters Christina, Margaret, Lucy, Cathy, and Mary. She is lovingly remembered by her sons Ken (Eileen), Ron, Norm (Colleen), her grandchildren Tyler (Taryn), Emily (Ross), her step grandchildren Adam and Tyler, her sister Patricia (Ralph) and brother Alex. The family would like to express their deep appreciation for the care Betty received in her later years, with special thanks to Home Care Assistance Calgary, Dr. Christine Gray, Jessica Tsang NP and AHS Senior Services.

My condolences to everyone. I have so many great memories of Aunt Betty. She was such a big part of my childhood. I still remember the time Peter and I rode our bikes to her home in Braeside from Ogden and she served us her delicious banana bread. She was such an amazing baker. Hugs to you all RIP Aunt Betty
