HAWTIN, Carol Marilyn
July 8, 1938 – September 6, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Marilyn Hawtin, age 84, at the Olds Community Health Center.
Marilyn was born in Brampton, Ontario, the second daughter of the late Clifford and Margaret (Stevens) Wrigglesworth. Educated in Ontario, she moved west to pursue a career as a secretary and there she met the love of her life, Victor Hawtin. They married in 1967 and had two sons, Jerry (1970) and Jonathan (1971), made their family complete.
Marilyn treasured the many friendships she made throughout her life. She reimained closely connected to her Ontario family, loving every opportunity to be together. She followed hockey and baseball, and was an avid reader. She loved reading and always had a good book on the go, until failing eyesight seperated her from her favourite hobby. Marilyn spent many hours doing jigsaw puzzles while listening to her favourite country stars.
Marilyn was a member of the United Church of Canada. Community was important to her and she was eager to lend a helping hand at community functions. Mom was always there for “her boys”, whether it was convincing them to do their schoolwork or attending their extra curricular activites, supporting them and cheering them on. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She will be sadly missed by her husband and life partner of 55 years, Victor Hawtin; her sons, Jerry Hawtin and Jon (Deanna) Hawtin; and daughter-in-law, Shari Lawson. Marilyn will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Alexa, Peyton, Ashten and Addison, all of whom she adored. Also surviving are sisters, Joan (Robert) Marshall and Diane (Paul) May; sister-in-law, Fae Punter; along with her many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and a Graveside Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, September 23, 2022 at 1:00PM at the Didsbury Cemetery which will be live streamed for those unable to attend. Following the Celebration of Life, a time of fellowship and refreshments will occur at Knox United Church at 2:00PM in Didsbury, Alberta.
Our sincere thanks to the staff of Olds Community Health Center for the exemplary care given to our loved one, Marilyn.
