KEARNEY, Alice May
February 9, 1932 – June 18, 2022
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and sister, Alice May Kearney, better known as May.
She is lovingly remembered by 3 sons, Gordon (Annelise), Jack (Becky) and Chris; 4 grandchildren, Emily, Aidan, Eric and Jeff; as well as 5 brothers and sisters. She was predeceased by her son, Murray, on October 20, 2010.
May was born in Middlebro, Manitoba, to Borghild and John Hodgson and was the second eldest of 13 children. She started her family in Fort Francis, Ontario, then to Atikokan, eventually moving out west in 1967 to Calgary, Alberta. May began working at the Calgary Canada Post Office in 1969 and retired in 1991.
Once retired, May decided to move to the town of Airdrie where she continued to be involved with family, friends and neighbours. Knitting was one of May’s passions, she knit countless hats and mittens for the Women’s Shelter.
May was always immensely proud of her sons, grandchildren, brothers and sisters, and loved them all very much.
