LEE, Sandra Sylvia

July 2, 1939 – April 11, 2022

It is with sadness that the family of Sandra Lee announce her peaceful passing on Monday, April 11, 2022 at the age of 82 years, after a long battle with Parkinsons.

Sandra was born on July 2, 1939 in Wadena, SK to George and Pearl (Tomyn) Staszko. She grew up in Margo, SK and attended school there along with her brother Garry.

Sandra met and fell in love with Otto Lee of Rose Valley, and they married and moved to Flin Flon, MB to start their new life together; with Otto working at Hudson Bay Mining & Smelting. The family grew with the additions of Tracy, Karla and Terrence, and then made a big move to Calgary in 1966 where Robert was born. Sandra was busy raising the family and working at Simpson Sears.

After more than 20 years in Calgary, Sandra and Otto moved to New Westminster, BC to enjoy the West Coast, with Sandra continuing to work at Sears.  They both retired to Margo 10 years later, where Sandra loved being active with the Seniors’ groups, gardening, art classes, caring for Pearl and visiting her many dear relatives and friends. Sandra loved hosting family for vacations and her home was always open to visitors, coffee pot at the ready, raspberries to pick and gingersnaps and perogies always made for grandchildren to enjoy. After Otto’s passing in 2011, Sandra moved to Wadena. Then finally a move to Calgary in 2019 brought her closer to her children.

Sandra was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Garry and her husband of 54 years, Otto. Kind and caring, she is remembered fondly by everyone she touched, and most dearly by her children, Tracy (Doug Collins) Sequim WA, Karla (Glen) Muir, Terry (Gina) and Robert (Sandi) all of Calgary; eight grandchildren, Christopher, Leslie, Morgan, Ryan, Tyler, Hannah, Logan and Brooklyn; and one great-grandson, Gavin.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Carewest Sarcee for their care of mom; also to Dr J Eley, Cardiac function Clinic, Dr Cieszlak & Dr Goodarzi of the Movement Disorders Clinic as well as many others who supported her.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 2 at 2:00pm at Varsity Bible Church, 4807 Valiant Dr NW, Calgary. A graveside gathering to be held in Margo, SK at a later date.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, those wishing to donate in Sandra's memory do so to the Parkinson Assoc. of Alberta, 120 – 6835 Railway Street SE, Calgary, AB, T2H 2V6.
