MERCREDI, Georgina Rosa

November 18, 1947 – February 24, 2022

Georgina Rosa Mercredi passed away peacefully on February 24, 2022 at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, AB. Georgina was born in Fort Smith, NWT, on November 18, 1947 to Marie & Louis Mercredi Sr. She spent her early years in Fort Smith until her wandering ways had her moving to Vancouver, BC, where she remained until 2002 when she moved again and settled in Calgary, Alberta. She then decided to go back to school and become a chef. She passed her exam and went to work at the Courthouse Restaurant. She loved her job and was good at it. Unfortunately she developed C.O.P.D and eventually had to retire.

She moved into the Oddfellow Tower and remained there until her passing. Georgina loved bingo, computer games, T.V and laughing.

Georgina is lovingly remembered by her eldest brother, Stan (April); youngest brother, Louis Jr. (Brenda); sisters, Margaret, Dawna (Ron), Maureen and Muriel; and sisters-in-law, Gwen and Amy. She was predeceased by her parents, Marie and Louis Mercredi Sr.; her brothers, Ken, Ted, Joe, Albert, Eddy and Gilbert; her niece, Anna Marie; nephew, Christopher; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She will be lovingly remembered by her nephew, Scott, who was her chauffeur and grocery shopper. She enjoyed dinners with her sister, Marg at her home, her friends, Merle & Rene, and the many residents she made friends with over the years.

She’ll be missed so much by her friend & companion, Larry Gooch, who has been a part of her life for numerous years.

A special thank you goes out to her dear niece, Loretta, who after Georgina’s passing helped pack and move her things out with Gary, Georgina’s friend who helped clean and load the truck. A thank you goes out to Danielle Mercredi who visited Georgina on her trip from B.C. Georgina spoke of that visit many times and the fun we all had and how she enjoyed getting to know Danielle.

An extra special thank you goes out to Tammy Hogan, who helped Georgina in so many ways over the years.

Georgina kept in touch with her friends from far and wide, especially her dear friend, Tracy, from Yellowknife.

Take care of each other and God Bless.
