Andrew David Monument

MONUMENT, Andrew “Andy” David

April 19, 1961 – February 17, 2022

Andy passed away peacefully at home in his sleep, with his wife and daughter by his side, on Thursday, February 17, 2022 after a short but hard battle with cancer.

Andy was born in Penang, Malaysia in 1961, spent much of his life in England while exploring the mountains of Europe before coming to Canada and making a life with his family here in Airdrie. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Nikola Monument; daughter,  Eleanor Monument; and sister, Wendy Stevens.

Andy will be fondly remembered for his long-winded stories that were always hilarious, no matter how many times we all heard them. His sense of humour was one of a kind and will be quoted for years to come, so raise a glass in his memory; after all, “it would be rude not to!”

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Foothills Medical Centre, Palliative Care Team in Airdrie, every other professional and all those who supported Andy over the last two months of his life.

A celebration of Life will be held on at the Town and Country centre on Saturday, March 12, 2022  from 3:00pm onwards. The family requests donations be made to Foothills Medical Centre in Andy’s memory.

Messages:

So very sorry for your loss

Really good guy gone far too soon. Bye Friend! My thoughts are with you Nikki and Ellie.

Niki, sorry to hear about Andy. Thoughts go out to you and your daughter. Andy always put a grin on my face where ever in the pub or on site. Fond memories.

A big part of our lives and we had a great time, we did what we did while hardly committing a crime. The 80's in Southampton we made such a blast, and Andy was Monumental in shaping that past. Whether in a field or down at the pub, we were VIP members of a very fine club. Another one gone, another life ends, but he will live on in the life of his friends.

So very sorry for your loss Niki and Ellie. Cousin Andy was certainly a one-off and as far I as I can tell never lost his love of the wild outdoors. I'm so relieved for you that his suffering was short. We shall raise a glass to him as he'd like .....it'd definitely be rude not to. Kindest thoughts Lesley, Siobhan and Renee.

I am so sorry to hear about Andy's passing. Such a funny man, always a smile...he loved you ladies so much. Giant hugs

Always enjoyed having a pint with you my friend.

My darling friends. I can’t imagine the world without Andy. He and I fought like cat and dog but we still loved each other. He’ll never be gone while those of us who love him remember him. Our love goes to you both and, though we can’t be there, we’ll mark his passing. It’d be rude not to. All our love Jan and Derek. Gb6

Andy was one of a kind. Lovely and what a sense of humour. Sending big hugs to Niki and Ellie. Xxx
