WARDER, Donald Winsloe

1941 - 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of Donald Winsloe Warder announces his unexpected but peaceful passing at the age of 81 on Monday, April 25th, 2022.

Don was born in Birmingham, England, to the late Fred and Ethel Warder. His family moved to Canada in 1952. Don's passion was dancing. He was involved in the Country Dance Community and has been a part of many groups, such as Country Cuz its Fun dance group, and participated and volunteered at the Calgary Dance Stampede. On occasion, you could also find him dancing and teaching at the Ranchman's. His friends in the dance community will miss Don.

Don will be lovingly remembered by his son, Brett (Candace) Warder; his grandchildren, Colin, Madisyn and Rhett; his sisters, Sue (Roger) Wheatley, Mary Warder, and Ann Evelyn; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Don also leaves behind his special friend Nadia, and the two of them enjoyed each other's company and taking care of each other.

We wish to thank the doctors and nurses at the Foothills Hospital for their compassionate care of our friend, father, and grandfather.

Family and friends are invited to gather in the Celebration of Don's Life at a location that will be shared at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 204, 2323 – 32 Avenue NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 6Z3.

Don was a kind soul, a true gentleman, and a great dancer. I knew him from line dancing in Calgary for about 12 years. Very sad to hear of his passing. Sincere condolences to his dear family and friends.

I remember Don being full of life and having a big smile when he danced. It was inspiring, and I’ve always appreciated that. He will be missed. Hopefully he is dancing his heart out now.

Don inspired me to keep line dancing and encouraged me to teach. So I did and started my business. Thank you Don. I will always have fond memories of our friendship.

Brett and Candace and family, I am so sorry for the loss of your Father. Sending you hugs and prayers.

I am so sorry to hear of Don's passing. I danced with him 28 years ago on the dance team Country cuz it's fun! He always spoke his mind and was a great dance partner. So sorry for your family's loss, he will be missed.

Don was a very good example of a man who openly loved to share dance. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone. We all lost touch with Don and each other during the Covid. We all would have looked forward to meeting again at an event any time. But instead we morn the loss of another one of our founders in County dance. Condolences to his family members and all who were close. He will be missed and thought of often. RIP Don.

I was saddened to hear of Don's passing. He always had a wonderful smile for me and was a good for many years. My condolences to each family member.
