It has been a couple of months since my mother passed and I finally have a moment of calm to write this review. I was so impressed with Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services. Right from the very first contact with them, they have been incredibly kind and helpful. They were quick to respond, even multiple times over the weekend to patiently help me through the process and answer my questions. Every staff member we encountered was so gentle and attentive and I truly felt that they cared. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Alternatives. My family and I thank everyone there for helping us so easily and compassionately navigate the funeral/cremation process during one of the most painful times in our lives.

Out of the blue, mom was diagnosed with st. 4 cancer. Made arrangements ahead of time with Annika and she was such a big help in guiding us through this hard process. After notifing Alternatives Funeral Sevices in Aldergrove of my mothers passing at around 11pm; they gave us some time with her until they arrived at 1ish in the morning. Went above and beyond the expected service and the purple urn suggested is perfect. THANK U- Charlotte.

These caring ladies helped us after our son went to rest. Anika came to our home - explained what's next and loved on us as she guided us making all the final arrangements for Chris. When he passed, they came and took him into their care with dignity.. followed through with his cremation, and delivered his ashes and documents to us. The service they provided was great, they came to my home and helped me with all the arrangements. They were friendly and professional, making sure I understood everything, and provided a list of things that I needed to do. After a few weeks they called to see how I was and if they could help in anyway.

Everyone here that worked with my family - Marivic, Annika, Elizabeth, and others behind the scenes - was so professional, knowledgeable, helpful and caring. Our meeting at Tim Horton’s with Annika (not the ideal place but we needed to have it here and made it work) to discuss the arrangements my mom had made was so informative, and final plans concerning the funeral mass and inurnment were made quickly with little waffling. Even though we were inundated with a lot of details (understandably so), we knew we were in good hands and encouraged to call with any questions or concerns, which were addressed in a timely manner. Mom looked so natural in her coffin, as if she were just sleeping. Moreover, her wishes were met with no problems. To my surprise, they even reached out to us about a month after her funeral to check how we were. I would not hesitate to recommend Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services. You will not be disappointed.

Loosing our mom so very suddenly was the worst thing to happen to us. We choose Alternatives funeral and cremation as my dad liked that she went straight there and was taken care of there for her cremation. The team there was lovely to us through the whole process. They came to our house to do the paperwork and dropped off our mom’s ashes to us. From start to finish it was wonderful. The team has also followed up with us to see how we are doing

After making a few calls around the city to other homes, it was quickly clear that Alternatives was the right choice for us. They definitely have the most reasonable pricing of all the places I called in Regina & Moose Jaw. From the first call I was assured everything would be taken care of by them and they did exactly that! They made it all really easy. We ordered personalized urns, they have a great artist who did a wonderful job. We were very happy with our keepsake urn.

Alternatives have been a pleasure to work with in a time of high stress and emotion. They were kind and calm in all their correspondence. Their website is straight forward, the process other than that was seamless and they are so professional and caring. Only call out is that their window for delivering the remains (if having done cremation) is a very small specific window so if you are a child of a parent and working it’s difficult to navigate.

My husband passed away but had donated his body to UBC. UBC has arrangements with this company and I could not have been happier with the service I received. From the moment I was in contact with them, I was met with only care and kindness. We were able to arrange a viewing quickly and during our visit, we were treated very compassionately as well as being told exactly what to expect. After the cremation, we waited only 3 or 4 days and the official certificates were hand delivered to us - all the way from Langley to Vancouver. This company comes very highly recommended.

We found Alternatives when searching for a cremation service who would help us as we walked through the process of losing our baby through miscarriage a few months ago. I was surprised when calling a few different places at how some funeral homes wouldn't receive our baby since she wasn't full term, but Alternatives was incredibly compassionate, understanding, and willing to help. We are so thankful for the wonderful care we received and for the dignity we were treated with as we walked through our grief. I would highly recommend them.

When my mother passed away recently we found Alternatives in her notes as the funeral home she wanted us to use and I’m so glad we did. Heather and the team at Alternatives were amazing - they were extremely helpful, transparent (about the process and the cost), patient, accommodating and sympathetic. From what little previous experience I had, I was expecting something formal and cold but while they were very respectful and professional, they also offered a personal, human touch and did everything they could to help a family in need to shoulder a heavy burden. I highly recommend them to families or anyone who has experienced a death and needs a company that will go above and beyond to guide you through a difficult process.

The staff at Alternatives were extremely patient and accommodating to our needs at the time of my brother's passing away. I am from Ontario, and all the information was shared with me allowing me to make the arrangements from afar with guidance. When I encountered administrative challenges with obtaining the death certificate, Annika, my contact person, advocated on my behalf to get the issue settled and allowed me to get all the appropriate documents. I particularly appreciated the efficient process of getting the cremated remains sent to me in Ontario, with multiple options given to me. For sure, the details on the website were helpful, but it was the gentle and kind advice over the phone, which is what stood out for me at that difficult time.

They were great. Not only did they made the transition easy. They walked me along every step with clear detail and explanation. Their website is well made with prices listed upfront. I had the pleasure of calling and needed some questions answered the person on the other end spent 30 minutes with me answering everything and giving me advice. We used Alternatives Funeral for my Dad’s passing. All the staff were extremely kind and professional. Martin met with us at our home and explained and answered all our questions compassionately and efficiently. They even came to the house to pick up my Dads clothing which would have been very difficult and emotional for us to drop off. The office staff as well were easy to communicate with and compassionate at every encounter. Prices were very reasonable as well. Highly recommend Alternative Funeral especially during such a stressful grieving time.
