Beverly Gail Jansen
March 23rd, 2021
On March 23, 2021, our hearts were broken by the passing of Beverly Gail Jansen. Beverly was one in a million. She was a room-brightener, our “go to” gal, the voice of reason, life of the party, and world-renowned hugger.
Beverly liked to say, “we’re here to shine a little light in the dark corners” and she was just like that. She lived life to the fullest and loved to travel – she was a road trip kinda gal with annual visits south to be with her sister, extended family, and friends; and east to catch-up with her beloved “relees”. She will always be remembered for being such a great friend and support person.
Beverly was always ahead of the curve and was a techy before anyone coined the phrase. During her long career at Core-Mark as a systems analyst, she spent years travelling through the U.S. training hundreds of people on various new systems. When people asked her what she did for a living she would say that she: “flew in planes, rode in taxis, and stayed in hotels.” She always had a way of making everything seem glamorous. Along with saying that she “made things go!”
Also, it takes a special person to wear the colour red and Beverly rocked it! From her hats to her glasses, and even a very specially remembered red leather skirt!
Beverly was a friend of Bill W and during her 53 years, she supported and guided many in their recovery journeys.
Beverly lived her life the way she wanted: beyond her wildest dreams, which was something she wished for all of us.
So, until we meet again, dear friend, love ya, love ya.
At Beverly’s request no service was requested, however, please consider sharing your condolences or ‘virtual hug’ here on the website ….. very ‘in keeping’ with Beverly’s style!
You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence for the family.
Messages:
I was a colleague of Beverly Jansen for some 20 years ; to me Beverly was an IT professional specializing in the training of our distribution center personnel in the company's developed technological systems and solutions. Her strong forte as a trainer was that she could relate to the broad spectrum of our distribution folk's skill sets [ receivers , pickers , drivers , inventory replenishment and supervisors ]. Her training schedule covered the 24 hour shifts of the distribution facilities. In addition to being a true road warrior [ flying 100,000's++ of air miles ] across the company's distribution network [ Canada and the US ], she always remained ' a bubbly ' and out going person, I would dare say she knew 100's & 100's of our employees on a 1st name basis across the company ; she was most loved and respected !! On a funny note, I gave Beverly the nickname ' tune-up Beverly '. She was most principled in her approach to training integrity [ no compromises here ] even with executive management. Many suffered the ' tune-up ' scenario and am sure we're better for it. Beverly, our secret IT weapon !! I will miss her a lot and her laughter ; to me it was a pleasure to have known her for some 20 + years. Our time with her was too short.
We were so sad to hear the news of Beverly passing away. She was always a bright shining star. Sadly missed but never forgotten. I never knew what a hug was until I met Beverly and Ashala, that was 40 years ago.
Unable to believe that I just lost , my best friend , my family member . Will never be forgotten . Thank you for the beautiful smile . Positive attitude towards life. Support Looking to see Ashala in person . May rest in peace and love .
Oh Beverly....You are/were such a treasure in my life. I always looked forward to appointment day with you. We spent many hours talking things over. I love you and I so treasure you. You taught me so much. Thank you for blessing my life. Till we meet again!!
Beverlie was always someone you could count on to make you laugh and smile. She spent so many hours and days taking care of everyone. She will always be remembered for her smile, laughter and spirit. RIP Beverlie.
Beverly I am going to miss seeing all your comments on Facebook. I recently lost my sister so if you see her could you please tell her hi for me. You really were a bright light and every time I saw your face I felt the energy and the goodness from you. You will be extremely missed. I will keep an eye on Ashala and make sure she feels love from this end. So sorry you’re gone. Facebook and the world will be a different place without you. Love Joie, Justin and Maddie ❤️
My condolences to Beverlie’s sister, Ashala, and all Beverlie's beloved friends and family for their loss. I met Beverlie in the early ‘70s through my cousin Bob Ross in Vancouver. Over the decades, she was a mentor, an inspiration and a role model to me and so many others. Her enthusiasm for learning, her generous spirit, sharing her latest discoveries and insights, bringing out the best in people…. What a gift to have known her. Beverlie was wise but didn’t take herself too seriously. I admired her skill at infusing difficult situations with humour and putting people at ease. Life always seemed grander, more mysterious, connected and joyous after spending time with Beverlie. I treasure those memories — adventures in Vancouver and Victoria and, in the 1990s, exploring Hong Kong from my home base on Cheung Chau, in the South China Sea. May the spirit of this bright star shine on.
The first time I met Beverly she was either giving or receiving a cake to/from her dear friend B. Ross. They had so much fun - I knew then I wanted what she had!! The next day I asked her to be my sponsor. That was 40+ years ago. Her joy and laughter saved my life then - and brightened my life all the years since. Her love and light lives on all around us in the hearts she touched. I love you Beverly! Until the next tea party!
Beverlie was a lovely person and my friend for many years.I will miss her very much as I'm sure many other will too.
Thank you for being a special part of my life ❤️ Always full of so much joy and wisdom. You definitely touched the lives of many and will be missed so much!! I have peace knowing I will see you again in Heaven ❤️ Till we hug again.. I love you! Prayers and hugs to everyone missing our beautiful Beverlie! Thank you Lord, for sharing her beautiful soul with us.. ❤️
To Beverlie who lit up the room on visits to my sister Pat. So grateful to share your hugs and joie-de-vivre. Your spirit of adventure and desire to help was infectious and will be greatly missed.
I only met Beverly less than a half dozen times but yet the example of her joyous presence had a big impact on how I treat others. Sad to hear of her passing, but happy for the lessons that her memory gave me and surely countless other people. Beverly made the world better.
To Beverlie's family and friends, my deepest condolences. Since her passing I've reflected on what her life represented for me. It was and is - love, patience, service, selflessness, FUN, gratitude, and humility. She modeled what it looks like to be given a new chance at life. I don't think she ever forgot it and she sure passed it on. That she left us so suddenly is still a shock. Such a remarkable woman. I feel heartbroken but also blessed that she graced us all with her very special spirit.
To all the Freund's and family that will feel the loss of such a shining star. I met Beverly years ago at a woman's retreat. She always remembered my name and sincerely asked how I was doing . Her flame maybe out but it's plain to see that she touched many hearts including my own. She will be missed but not forgotten Crystal Dixon
You will always be my Shining Star Beverly..So many adventures to laugh & share with each other..A journey in walking in the now & claiming our dreams..Shine on Dear Sister..Until we meet again..Thank you God for your gift of our Sister Beverly.
I am so sorry for your loss at the passing of our dear friend Beverly. I came to Friends of Bill W late in life, so I only knew Beverly a few short years. She inspired me to stick with it, one day at a time, as she had undoubtedly done for so many. She truly was an inspiration who helped many people throughout the journey of her wonderful life. She will be missed so very much at Kerrisdale A2.
Dear Ashala and Familie, My deepest heartfelt sympathy on the passing of our dear, dear friend Beverlie, I met her when she arrived in Vancouver from Montreal, she was a much-loved friend for over 50 years. Much loved and will miss her always. Love Lothar
I heard Beverly speak many times at my home group and she always made me feel less lost in life. In AA they tell you to look for someone where you want what they have....Beverly was definitely that person for me. I hope that one day I can shine the way that she did.
Separated through time but always on my mind. Cousin Bruce
We spoke almost daily and you were always there with your guidance, love and patience. I love and miss you more than words can say. I am keeping you in my heart and prayers for continued guidance as you watch over me. My deepest sympathies to Beverlie's friends and family.
"You will live a life beyond your wildest dreams!" You are one of the best people I know. I do not cry for you, as you will always be with me in my recovery journey. Always a kind word. Missed
I love that picture, it is so her. We had discovered that we shared the same birthday and the same age, she never failed to phone me on that day.
I know you are looking down and guiding me through your estate... you sent me your friend JW, a god send! Much like when we worked together on Jame's estate .... remember? Say hi for me and tell him I still miss him. You are missed too my dear ....more than you know. 'Til we meet again. Your friend, Jane.
Such a difficult time and sad time for all friend's and family. I only knew Beverlie this last year, i am so blessed to have known her and to see such joy and wisdom from her, this memory of Beverlie will live on. God bless
Beverlie made me very welcome. I was an outsider and really appreciated the love and hugs from Beverlie, Rest In Peace Beverlie. I will always remember you.
Sending our deepest sympathy to the family!! We loved Beverlie and her beautiful spirit
Was sorry to hear of Beverly's passing. She was definitely a bright light in our lives and that light will continue to shine in our hearts. My first memory of her was showing off her colourful socks to a group of recovery types and I was so impressed at her courage. It was who she was that made it easier so many more of us to walk the walk. Rest in colourful power Beverly. XO
Beverly helped guide me through the mire of the life I led before I met her and helped rocket me into the fifth dimension with wisdom and grace. I will miss our talks and all to brief encounters here and in Mexico. Beverly lived a life well lived and mentored a lot of people along the path. Find bless her and my sincere condolences to all her family and friends. Oh look there is a very shinny bright reddish star in the universe! With love and gratitude. Gale B.
This is a beautifully written memorial to my wonderful friend Beverley. What a blessing she was in my life. She proved to be irreplaceable in the early planning of our treasured Avalon Women’s Center. I’ll simply never forget our last luncheon together. (Covid got in the way of our intended regularly scheduled ones) The luncheon ended with the sweetest awareness of our mutually shared Gratitude.
I was fortunate to meet Beverly in White Rock years ago. She was fun, wise light hearted and a great listener When I moved to Williams Lake she became my 'Go To' friend because she was a soft landing and so full of love. I recall a tea we both attended and she always danced to her own music and stylishly wore a fascinator just for the fun of it. We will meet again on the road to happy destiny Love and miss you Aline
I miss you terribly Beverly. You are still with me in my thoughts and prayers. I will never forget you. You were a good friend. Pat
To all Beverie's friends and family we are all grieving the loss of a wonderful woman. She was my sistah, my best friend and yes my go to gal. I loved and cherished her along with Ashala and Mom Evelyn. She was always there helping me out whether it be physical, mental, or spiritual, she was always there. Helping!! I miss her so much but as another friend said...just talk to her...she is here listening. She was a contributing member of the Fibromyalgia Wellspring Group and was loved there too. She brought love, light, and sunshine everywhere she went. Bye for now...luv ya luv ya...always!
Our hearts are broken ..gone too soon ..a life well lived and more importantly well loved
Our sincere condolences to all who knew Beverly and shared in her wonderful presence. She was certainly a blessing to everyone that was fortunate enough to meet and learn from her. While she will be sorely missed her memory and inspiration lives on in each and everyone of us. If we all copy even a small portion of her generosity, the world will be a better place. Love ya Beverly. xoxo
I met Beverly nearly 40yrs ago at CoreMark, she was without a doubt one of the sweet souls in this world and one who I am very fortunate to have been able to call my friend. BJ was one of those people who you never felt out of touch with, when we were able to get caught up, we just did and it was like we had just talked the day before!! Loved her always!! My condolences to all family and friends, Beverly will be missed but her light will also never leave us!!
My dearest Beverlie. One of a kind. A true special human being. You had do much love to give. You were and are an amazing teacher. I’ve learn so much from you and it made me the man I am today. Thanks Bev for sharing your greatness with us and encouraging ours as well. I love you.
To my best, best, best friend, Where are you? Everyday I wait for you to come to take me out for our walk, to let me lick your face and snuggle next to you, but you aren't here. I know you are watching over us and I'll be sure to keep close to my mom so she isn't sad. You'll be busy petting all the doggies at the Rainbow Bridge and I know one day I'll see you there. All my puppy love
Going to miss your beautiful smile and hugs. You were a special lady.
I forgot the most important message HUGS TO ALL ❤

Beverlie, I miss you so much. Such a positive example in my life as a friend. Thank you for my time with you and the "Love ya, love ya" when I last spoke with you on Tuesday. Truly a dear and there were no strangers in your life.
