Mavis Alice Jean Randall
June 7th, 1928 ~ November 10th, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved, Mavis Alice Jean Randall (Nee Rutland) on November 10, 2024, at the age of 96.
Mavis was born on June 7, 1928 in Norfolk, England to William and Agnes Rutland (Nee Muffet). She lived her early years in Romford, England before working in a printing company in London, England as a young teen during the height of WWII. During that time, Mavis met, courted and married the love of her life, Leslie Randall, on December 15, 1945, in Hornchurch, Essex, England. As a newlywed, Mavis came to Whitevale Ontario Canada by large ship in 1946 to join her husband. Les and Mavis enjoyed 70 and a half years of devoted marriage.
Mavis was known for her strong will, unwavering determination, love and support for her family and community. Along with her husband she was a devout member of the Salvation Army in England and then Canada. Mavis and Les fostered many children and eventually adopted 3; William, Thomas, and Susan. As a young mother, Mavis also worked at the Chesebrough Ponds in Markham, Ontario on the assembly line. Both Mavis and Les were scout leaders for Boy Scouts Ontario and Legion Members for many years.
In 1973, The Randalls moved to Langley, BC, where Mavis’ love for community only grew. She was very involved in the Lower Mainland with the Salvation Army, Legion and at one point was even the president of Lady’s Auxiliary. They were avid travelers who explored extensively, especially after retirement, by truck and trailer, cruise ships and planes far and wide.
