Wendy Lynn Blake

January 8th, 2021

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, auntie, niece, cousin, and friend, on January 8, 2021. Wendy died peacefully at the Irene Thomas Hospice in Ladner at the age of 62, after a courageous four-month battle with cancer. She was much loved and will be greatly missed by her husband Jim, children Scott and Lauren, parents Elda and Elwin “Butch”, sister Jill (Rick), sister-in-law Patty (Brian), brother-in-law Doug and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the friends and relatives who provided ongoing support to Wendy through a difficult and heart-breaking journey over the last few months. She really looked forward to and cherished all her phone calls, messages, and especially the window visits!

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of the BC Cancer Surrey Centre, the Surrey Memorial Palliative Care Unit, and especially the staff at the Irene Thomas Hospice for the excellent care they provided for Wendy.

A celebration of Wendy’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the BC Cancer Foundation in honour of Wendy.

You are invited to leave of personal message of condolence for the family.

I am so saddened to hear of Wendy’s passing. I worked with her at CWT. She was an amazing person who took great care of all of her clients needs. Such a dedicated, hard worker with a fun and lively personality. She was always willing to offer her support and give me advice. It was greatly appreciated. She talked about Jim, Scott and Lauren all the time so I know she was always thinking about her family. Though we have not worked with each other directly for many years, it was great to see her when I dropped into the office. I will miss seeing her beautiful smile. My deepest condolences to Wendy’s family.

We are saddened to hear of the passing of your beloved Wendy. We adored her, no words can express the sadness of your loss. We hope peace and no more physical pain can be felt Love and Time. ..

Dear Jim, Scott and Lauren, I was deeply saddened to read of Wendy's passing in the optimist. She was one of my favourite patients, as you all are. I hope she did not suffer in her final illness, and I must say when I hear of my former patients going through such struggles I wish I had not retired and hope I could have been of some help. I hope you all can recover from her loss. Life moving forward will of course be different but hopefully there will be some joy to come in the future. I wish you all happiness in the future and I am grateful for knowing Wendy and your family. Best wishes, Jim.
