Irene Bernice Baker

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our Mother Irene Bernice Baker (nee Fortune) on Saturday, August 5, 2023. Born in Ocean Falls, B.C. on July 10, 1919 and moved to Vancouver at 3 months old. Married to Ed Baker October 14, 1939 and moved to Burnaby in May 1950. Irene was a tawny owl in Brownies for 15 years and loved her bowling for 50 years.
Irene was predeceased by her husband Ed Baker (April 1966), brother Ernest Fortune (June 1944), sister Gwen Parker (June 2010), sister Mabell Parker (June 2016), sister Kay Edmunds (July 2019), and daughter-in-law Diane (May 2021).
Irene is lovingly remembered by her son Ernie Baker and daughter Bernice Irwin (Ron), 3 grandsons Howard (Brittany), Wayne (Leanne), and Brian (Kori), 6 great grandchildren Dylan, William & Andrew, Brittany (Craig) & Jesse & Emma, and 2 great-great grandchildren Kayden & Macayla.
There will not be a service.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorial donations to a charity of your choice.
