Sharon Fay Labinsky

January 5th, 2023

Born:  November 5/43 - Died: January 5/23

Friends and family mourn the loss of a vibrant and loving soul.  Sharon passed away unexpectedly at home in the arms of her loving husband Reginald on Jan 5th, 2023. Sharon began life with her family in North Battleford, Saskatchewan.  She was one of seven children and a happy-go-lucky girl with beautiful blond hair and an energetic personality.  The family relocated to BC early in her life.  Sharon was always sharp-witted, kind, and stylish.  No doubt the love of her life, Reginald Labinsky, was attracted to her beauty and intelligence when they met in childhood.  Attending high school at Queen Elizabeth High School in Surrey, BC, they grew closer and became sweethearts.  They married in 1961 and moved around to pursue Reg's career, returning to settle in the Lower Mainland when their children were school age.  Sharon deeply loved their children Jeff (Kirby), Kelly, and Kyle.  Over the years Sharon loved to travel and built many close friendships and a career.  Sharon worked at the Hudson's Bay Co. in the payroll/accounting department for years, and then started her own book keeping business taking on small businesses as her clients.  Sharon developed a close-knit circle of friends called the “Dough Girls” who did activities together and travelled as a group.  She was very stylish and appreciated beautiful jewellery, clothes, makeup, and haircuts; she was admired by many.  Sharon enjoyed shopping, going to church, baking, being with friends and family, hanging out with her granddaughters Kiana and Biatrix, visiting and travelling with her sister(s), and being at home with her sweetie and their pets.  Sharon had several health struggles over the years but always faced these with a realistic and stoic attitude.  Sharon had a way of caring for and nurturing others.  When the couple settled in their retirement years to Langley, BC, Sharon made a whole new set of friends and continued to be part of her community.

Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Reginald Labinsky, their children Jeff (Kirby) Taylor, Kelly Hao (Eric), Kyle Labinsky (Amber), granddaughters Kiana Hao & Biatrix Labinsky, sister Wilma Brewer, and many nieces, nephews, brother & sister-in-laws, cousins, and friends who will miss her sharp wit, laughter, friendship, compassion, and love.  She is pre-deceased by her parents Alice (née Snyder) & Melvin Hellrud, brothers Ronald and Donald Hellrud, sisters Lorna Hellrud, Dorothy Keep (née Hellrud), and Kay Dyke (née Hellrud).

A celebration of life will be announced at a future date.

Messages:

Dear Reg and family,,, I’m so sorry to hear that Sharon passed,, I kept saying I would get to the coast to visit, and I left it too late,,, I’ve learned a valuable lesson. Sharon was Cliff’s favourite cousin. He loved her so much,, I’ll never forget our holiday in Nakusp! Please accept my sincere condolences.

Sharon will be missed. I had the pleasure of having Sharon as a neighbor for several years, she always had a cheeky comment when we would meet up as she walked. I am sure you and Susan are having a great reunion. RIP.

So sad to hear Sharon, has passed she was such a breath of fresh air to me, I was so looking forward to meeting up with you both this summer, May the Lord, give you strength and guidance in the days ahead, as I well know and understand how tragic the loss of Sharon, is to you, having gone through this loss myself, on 05-21-2020, If you need a listening ear any time of day or night, I'm available.

RIP Sharon. Our families were neighbours growing up in Surrey and Sharon and myself reconnected on Facebook about a year and a half ago. It was so wonderful to relive old memories with her. Condolences and deepest sympathy to her husband and her family.

Reg, so sorry for your loss. I never had the pleasure of meeting Sharon but could tell from our talks as we bumped into each other on 198th Street that, like you, she was a very special person. We moved over to Victoria last month to be closer to our grandson so we will not see you on the street walking your dog any more but know that we are thinking of you and your family. Best regards, Dan G Mooney

I am very grateful to have reconnected with Sharon and Reggie in recent years although they have always been an integral part of one of my closest Dutch aunts. Wishing the entire extended family courage and strength in these difficult times.

Sharon- you were always there when needed, you treated me like family and helped me through life struggles when I was at the lowest of the lows. Thankyou for your love and support for me and for my son Kevin whom you treated like your own. You are forever in my heart. Much love to Reg, Kelly, Kirby and Kyle.

One thing I loved about Sharon is she said it like it was & I love that. Sharon had a heart of gold. Loved her humour. I will miss chatting with you Sharon. My thoughts, prayer & love are with you all.

Dear Reg so sorry for your loss. Sharon was a lovely lady.
