In Loving Memory of
Femmy Vandenberg
June 29,1926 - June 15,2023

Femmy Schraa Vandenberg passed away peacefully at Langley Lodge on June 15, 2023. She was born in Zwartsluis, the Netherlands on June 29, 1926. At age 24 Femmy immigrated to Canada by boat to Halifax and by train to northern B.C. in order to marry her beloved, Klaas Vandenberg in Telkwa B.C. They spent their first year in a log cabin with no electricity and no running water. After having two children and losing two others the family went back to Holland for 6 months and returned to Telkwa. They lost one more baby and then moved across country to New Brunswick to start a new life. After five years they moved to Duncan on Vancouver Island for a few years, where another son was born and survived. Then another move took us to Berwick, Nova Scotia where the family adopted another son. In 1973 they moved to Duncan again. In 1986 Klaas and Femmy moved to the mainland in Langley where they lived until their elderly years when they spent two years in Elim Village, assisted living in Surrey. For the last 12 1/2 years Femmy has lived in Langley Lodge. Klaas passed away in Langley Lodge in 2015. Femmy struggled with Parkinson’s Disease and eventually became totally blind due to Macular Degeneration.  Despite her condition she never complained about her lot in life. She was always thankful to God for her blessings and her family. She remained strong in her faith in Jesus as her Saviour till the end. She leaves behind her son Bill & (Shauna) Vandenberg, daughter Trudy & (Peter) DeVries, son James & (Wanda) Vandenberg, son Harold & (Tracy) Vandenberg, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grand-children and four great-great-grand-children. Thanks so much to the staff at Langley Lodge for the excellent care she received during her last years.
