Heinz Guenter Buchholz

April 21st, 2013

Heinz, 89, beloved husband and father passed away on April 21, 2013.  He was born in Germany in 1924.  There he met Elise his wife whom he married in 1951.  They immigrated to Canada in 1954 where they lived in Saskatoon, Edmonton, Winnipeg and Vancouver.  For most of his working years he worked as manager for Ames Taping Tool Systems.  He enjoyed the outdoors, camping and fishing, and in his retirement many trips to Hawaii.

He taught his children to have a generous heart – he often helped people in need; to love your family – he loved to sit quietly among the company of his children, watching and listening to them talk; to follow the dreams God gives you and work hard – he instilled a strong work ethic; to love life – he loved to laugh and write humorous rhythms; and to love God – he always sought out a church in every city he lived in and encouraged his children to follow the Lord.  Just over a year ago Heinz said, “If I pass away, I am looking forward to seeing my Lord and Saviour”.

As a family we are grateful to God to have been blessed with a husband and father like Heinz.  He will be dearly missed by his wife Elise of 61 years, his children:  Karl (Arleen), Ruth and James (Corinne), and grandchildren:  Karla, Kirsten, Stephen, Jennifer, and David.

The burial will be at Sunnyside Lawn Cemetery, 14850 - 28th Avenue, Surrey BC on Thursday, April 25th at 10am.  The memorial service will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church, 109 E 40th Ave, Vancouver BC, on April 25th at 12 noon.  In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to The Salvation Army.

The family would also like to express their appreciation to the nursing and physiotherapy staff at Laurel Place and the doctors and nurses who assisted dad in his final days at Surrey Memorial Hospital.

You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence for the family.

Messages:

My deepest sympathies to your entire family. It took courage to leave the land of his birth and come to another country to provide a better life or his family....Canada has been blessed with many such people who have helped build this country....

Dear Ruthie, There is comfort in the memories of our loved ones. While we do not mourn as those who have no hope, we do mourn. It was so great to read in the obit about your dad's generous heart. Now we know where you got it from! Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Love, Gitti & Benno
