March 7, 2025

John Steven Hanzlick

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of John Hanzlick. Born in 1945, in Vancouver, BC and welcomed to Heaven by awaiting brothers Doug and Stan on March 7, 2025, at 80 years of age.

Survived by his loving wife Dora, Son Steve (Kerry) Daughter Tanya. Granddaughter Rachel, (Jerzy) Grandsons Curtis, (Taylor) Dawson, Hayden, Beckam. Great Grandson Mason and Great Granddaughter Logan.

John will be greatly missed by his sisters Teresa and Virginia, as well as all of his dear extended family, friends and lifelong crib partner Jack.

John worked till 73 years of age as a plywood millworker. Although he would tell you he didn’t do a full day’s work in his life, for many decades, he worked 6 days a week, to provide the best possible life for his family.

John was an avid card player with crib being his favorite game. He could always be found at the local crib tournament or playing at home at the kitchen table.

John loved the simple things in life, sweet treats, root beer floats, all of his loyal dogs, but most of all, he loved his Family.

All that knew him will miss John immensely and think often of his sense of humour and all the wonderful memories he has left with us.

Until we meet again Dad, I say, I’ll see you down the road, the same way you ended every one of our crib games….

“Thanks for all of the Action!”

Messages of Condolence

You will always be in my heart , I miss you so much today and everyday . Love you today , tomorrow and everyday .❤️🥲 ~ Dora

Dad, not a day goes by that I don’t think of you, miss you, and wish we had more time together, one more crib game! You were always there for us, whenever we needed you. Always there to give must rides as kids, I never remember you saying no, or that you were too busy! Thank you for all the sacrifices you made over your lifetime, to give us, your family, a better life. We all still look over every time we are outside, at your chair, at the kitchen table. I wish you were still there. I’ll do my best to take care of everybody, and to make you proud. You taught me more about life than you realized, and I’m grateful for that, and for every moment we spent together. I love you more than I can put into words. You are loved, you are appreciated, and you are missed. Until we see each other again, Dad. “Thanks for All The Action”  ~ Steve Hanzlick

A lifetime of precious memories to look back on, with you, Uncle John and your beautiful family.  Thank you for always welcoming us with a smile and a hug, and for the laughter and stories.  Often you were the quiet one, but out came the funniest comments :)You and Auntie Dot created a strong foundation of love and family, the true Hanzlick way. So grateful to be part of your family! We love you and will miss you. ~ Cheryl and Cliff and family

I still cannot believe you are gone. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of you. I still feel like you should be sitting in your chair at the table when I come over. Your last words to mom and I were it’s getting late make sure you guys eat something. Even laying in a hospital bed on your last day you were taking care of mom and I. I cannot thank you enough for everything you did for all of us over the years. You will be greatly missed by all of us but take comfort in knowing that your memory will live on in our hearts and in our memories. Don’t worry about mom we will take care of her. Till we meet again Dad your loving daughter Tanya. ~ Tanya Hanzlick
