Mary Nancy Ellen Dobson (nee Howard)

I am a second cousin of Nancy. I grew up in Soperton and remember Nancy as a lovely and fun person. She loved a party. My concolences Stan.

I worked with Nancy at the Northwestern General Hospital in Toronto. She was one of the warmest, friendliest and caring persons I have ever known or had the privilege to work with side by side. She always looked for the best in people and, to my knowledge, never said an unkind word about anyone. I'm sure she will be missed by all those she loved and who loved her in return. I'm left with only good memories.

In Probie quarters @KGH, Nancy and her roommate Rosemary Webb lived next door to my roommate Mary Anne Dembroski and me...in such small quarters, we shared all the news, fears, excitement and adventures as first year 9probies. Nancy was always available to listen and offer insightful helpful advice but never unfair negative criticism. In later years during reunions and occasional car trips, Nancy proved to be a wonderful conversationalist with her diverse interests, curiosity, intellect, joyful spirit, love and beauty. Nancy will be remembered.

Nancy was one of the first ladies to make me feel welcome on coming to Hope. She was so caring and kind, a warm and wonderful person....I feel blessed to have had the chance to know her. Stan, you were her rock; she will Rest In Peace knowing you loved her. My heartfelt condolences go out to you.

Nancy was born at home, in a little yellow house, in Soperton, Ontario. I was adopted by the Singletons who lived in the farmhouse across the road. My mother took me to see the new baby the day she was born. I was two and a half. Apparently I took Nancy's little hand; we bonded at that moment. Nancy and I grew to together, went to Soperton Public School and Athens High School and remained close friends throughout our lives, keeping in touch and visiting when we could, over the years. We loved each other as sisters and always expressed that love. An 82 year friendship. Nancy was a beautiful person, kind and generous and possessed many gifts of the soul; music (Jazz) appreciation of art, kindness, love of wee Billie, and most of all devotion to and love of her partner, Stan. I shall miss Nancy more that I can express. My condolences to Stan and all of her family. Margaret Singleton

Stan we are so sorry to hear of your loss of our dear Nancy. We will miss seeing her at our nursing class reunions. She has always been a bright light.

My sympathy to Stan and Nancy's family. She and I worked together as managers at Northwestern General Hospital in Toronto for several years and have stayed in touch since. I was happy that we were able to speak about her illness and to learn how strong she was in her decision to manage it; she did it her way. She is finally at rest......

So sorry to hear of Nancys passing. Jackie and I were always made welcome by Nancy and Stan on our many visits. Hope will be emptier without her laughter-filled presence. We were privileged to welcome her into our home for dinner on her last trip to England. Nancy was a lively, caring, and gentle soul.
