Dorothy Maureen Hargreaves

August 21st, 2019

"Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard but always near, still loved, still missed, and held so dear."

Dorothy Maureen Hargreaves received her angel wings on August 21, 2019 at the age of 75. She was born and raised in New Westminster, BC where she volunteered much of her time as child and teen with the Salvation Army. Maureen met many friends during her time working at the Columbian newspaper. After returning to work following maternity leave, she spent a few years working at Okanagan Helicopters before moving to Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU), where she spent over 20 years, mainly working within the facilities department. She was thought of as “mom” to many at Kwantlen and made many strong, lifelong friendships before she retired in 2014.

She is survived and is deeply loved by Ralph (Charlotte), her daughter and son-in-law Morgan and John, her grandson Edwin, and her brother Bert (Nicole). She also has many amazing family and friends who brought so much joy and love to her life throughout her 75 years. Moe-Moe, as the kids called her, would not have wanted us to grieve in her loss but celebrate the times we did have together. She was the most caring and kind soul, always forgiving and never holding a grudge. She loved with her whole heart and would do anything for anyone even if it meant going without. She treasured spending time with her grandson over the past 9 months and spent many of her days holding him while he napped or playing with him. She would want us to all take with us the lessons of unconditional love and forgiveness. Her smile and laugh will be dearly missed.

A celebration of life will be held on October 6th, 2019 in Langley, BC where we will share the happy stories of our dear mother, grandmother, and friend.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Salvation Army Canada in honour of Maureen.

You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence for the family.

So very sorry for your loss

Words cannot describe the sorrow I felt on finding out about Aunt Mo's passing. Her generous spirit and beautiful personality was clear to everyone who met her. She will be sorely missed and never forgotten. Love and condolences, Shena and Rocky Mclean

My heart felt condolences to Morgan, John and Edwin. Cherish the memories of your beautiful mother. I only got to meet her a short time, and she was nothing short of an exceptional kind woman. May she rest in peace.

We were so sorry for the loss of your mother, best friend, grandmother. She certainly was the best mother anyone could ever wish for. You were also fortunate to have had her in your life this many years. Our thoughts are with you and your family.

Maureen (Moe) will always be in our hearts. A true friend. Much loved by many. We know our family will miss her dearly.
