After a brief but valiant battle with cancer, MP Mark Warawa died with his loving wife by his side at Langley Hospice on June 20, 2019. Mark’s new address is in heaven, where he hopes to see you some day.

Mark was a devoted husband to his wife of 46 years, Diane, and father to their five children: Jonathan, Ryan, Eric, Nathan, and Kristen and grandfather to 10 grandchildren.

Mark served 14 years on Abbotsford City Council, and moved to federal politics in 2004.  He served as a Member of Parliament for 15 years. It was with great joy that he represented Langley in Ottawa.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 5, 2019 at Christian Life Assembly, 21277 56th Avenue, Langley, BC.

You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence for the family.

Messages:

We heard the sad news of Mark's passing while we were travelling. We are sorry not to express our sorrow and condolences before. Mark was a conscientious MP who restored our faith in the political process through his integrity, caring and Godly demeanour. He cared about people as individuals, including our family, and was always willing to listen to constituents' concerns and take action. His caring for seniors and the environment was exemplary and he will be deeply missed by us and all who knew him. You continue to be in our prayers, Diane and family.

My condolences to the family on the passing of a great servant to his community and country. This was a truly remarkable memorial service. I was deeply moved and also powerfully inspired by Mark's example. The combination of remarks from the children each describing their father from a slightly different perspective gave such a rich and nuanced sense of his character. And by acknowledging the impact of all those years of public service, I believe you honoured your father's integrity. I got the sense that he would not have wanted you to sugar-coat that truth. I honestly did not know that a memorial service could impact me so intensely. I find myself still reflecting back on particularly thought-provoking moments, including a very fresh way of looking at a very familiar scripture verse: "I go to prepare a place for you..." It was truly an honour to be there. To borrow a phrase from Andrew Scheer's remarks, thank you for lending him to us one more time.

To Mark’s Family: Our sincere condolences in his passing, but certain joy that there is the hope in the Lord beyond the grave. It’s our misfortune that he couldn’t have had more time here. He certainly had some great aspirations, and well needed in this country are the dedication of those who are faithful to the Lord Jesus. We pray for you that you will find comfort, peace, love, and strength in the coming days, weeks, and months. Also that your grief may be lessened by the wonderful memories left in those behind. He set the bar high for you to follow in his endeavours bless all of you that may take up some of his passions.

I was driving to Terrace BC when I heard the news of Marks passing and was sad beyond belief! Mark was everything and more to many who knew him....God only takes the best and Mark was the best.....He left some pretty big shoes to fill....May our loving heavenly Father hold him close and wrap His loving arms around all of the family....

Mark was an example to us all to be better men. Honour in doing what was right and pursuing Holiness. A man who loved Jesus truly and expressed it to everyone, serving us all as best he could. We live for just a moment and then eternity.

I watched Mark say goodbye to Parliament, what a man of God, amazing example of sharing Gods love for others and saying what they, the whole country, needs to hear. He showed so much love for all his peers, his journey to parliament was inspirational and his speech was met with a well deserved standing ovation. I would very much like to eventually see his biography in print. His story should be told. We need more Godly men and women answering that call to serve the people for all the right reasons, with integrity and love in their hearts. To his family, thank you for sharing him with us, praying you would experience a peace that would know no bounds. He was a good man and we are better off for knowing him even just a little.

Diane Sincere condolences to you and your family. Mark will be truly missed. Kitty

Mark's Celebration of Life was so touching. To Ryan, Eric, John, Nathan and Kristen- Thank you for sharing your father with all the constituents of Langley. We have been so immensely blessed to be led by such a faithful man of God. Mark was truly an exemplary politician who left a great legacy. It was an honor to know him and support him through two election campaigns. Likewise, my students were blessed to meet him as a guest speaker in the classroom and in Ottawa. He will be dearly missed.

I met Mark several times as he started his path into federal politics and was impacted by his sincerity, kindness and genuine interest in people. His courageous faith will never be forgotten and I pray that his family will find comfort through theirs.

Dear Diane and family! We share in your deep loss and send our love and blessings to you. We pray that you will be comforted by the many who surround you at this time and the prayers of those who have known you as friends. We have been so grateful for both you and Mark’s love for this country and the community in which you live and serve. Mark will be missed but we take from him the love he had for God and the way he gave of himself for others. Our deepest sympathies and may you know the peace that passes all understanding now and in the days ahead. Love Julia & John Poole

Sending Love. Although I have not spent a lot of time with Mark, sharing the family tree has allowed me to hear many stories of Mark over the years! Many of my clients throughout Abbotsford and Langley would ask me... is Mark your Dad? I used to joke if I had a dollar for every time I was asked this I’d be rich.. And they would then proceed to tell me how they know Mark and share a laugh or a memory with me. I still remember when I was young opening the community paper to see a photo of Mark and asking my Mom who is this guy?! He looks like Dad! Over the years I’ve been so happy to share a relationship with his daughter. He has left an enormous impact on many people and this is very special. Sending my Love to our Warawa family.

Our condolences to the Warawa family. Mark was a man of great integrity, something that is rare in these days. He was a light in our capital and always lived out his faith in the way he served. May the family find great comfort in the God that Mark loved so much.

My sincere condolences to the entire Warawa family - Mark's lifelong service is an example and encouragement to everyone, as was his steadfast dedication to the Lord. Praying for you all as you grieve and remember.

Sincere condolences to Mark's family. He will be greatly missed but you will meet again in Heaven. I sat in Parliament with Mark, and he stood out amongst the Parliamentarians. His faith in God and his love for his wife and family was always of paramount importance to him. His intelligence and desire to serve his constituents permeated his everyday commitment to them and to Canada. He was a remarkable man and one of great honestly and integrity. He was a leader in every sense of the word. You all are in my thoughts and prayers at this time.

Mark was a great man and neighbour. We crossed paths a handful of times and he was always so kind and helpful. Although it is heartbreaking to lose someone on earth, Mark is now in heaven rejoicing with Jesus. He was truly a great man of God and this was evident in his life. We are praying for his family as they grieve his loss. May they all find peace and comfort in knowing Mark is back home.

Dear Mrs. Warawa and family: My condolences to all of you with the passing of your husband, father, and grandfather. May you be comforted by God's nearness and love during this difficult time. Mark was a great example of someone who lived out his faith. Much love to all of you.

"For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ." Hebrews 3:14 NLT Mark's trust and faith have been a joy and encouragement to so many. It was my privilege to serve with him in the Parliament of Canada. God's joy, peace, patience, kindness, and faithfulness were very evident in Mark's life and service to Canada. Much love to Diane and all the family. We will miss Mark very much, but are confident of being reunited with him in God's timing.

It was a blessing to have met and been encouraged by you. May the legacy you left your family live on in and through them. My deepest sympathies for your family's loss.

Diane, we pray that you and all the family will be surrounded by God's love and peace during this difficult time. May memories lift you up and lighten your spirits. We will always treasure our friendship and remember Mark's ready smile and mischievous nature. God bless. Love to all.

First I like to offer my sincerest condolences to Mr. Warawa's family. It was not too long ago during my internship when I last saw him. It was clear from the start that he was a man who truly cared for his community. There were a few times when he would tell me stories about his family and about life. I will never forget his words of courage and wisdom. Rest in peace Mr. Warawa, you will be missed.

We have known Mark for a short period , but were immediately drawn to his warmth , enthusiasm , and strength of character . We extend our condolences to Diane and your family .

My deep condolences to the Warawa Family. I was greatly moved in my heart, when I watched Mark speak, (Channel 119) from the Provincial Legislature) a number of months ago and could see a "Man of Integrity" Indeed he was "Salt and Light" to the men and women who he served with. May God grant his family Grace and Comfort at this time. I'd like to conclude with a quote by David Jeremiah,"Integrity is keeping a commitment even after circumstances have changed." that to me, was Mark Warawa's heart!

Our sincerest condolences to the Warawa family. Mark was our neighbour and a respected member of our community. We are grateful for the integrity he showed as a community leader and as a leader in Canada. He will be sorely missed. Dr. Warren and Susan Anquist

I remember the first nomination gathering in Aldergrove where you were elected as our party’s candidate for Langley/Aldergrove several years ago! Although I was backing another candidate at the time, I saw the humility and servant’s heart in you! I volunteered in all your election campaign since than and it was a pleasure and a previlage to be a small part of the winning machine you developed! I believe it was the unflinching faith in our Lord and Saviour that enabled you to win and serve with such distinction! Enjoy your well deserved rest in His presence!

Mark was such a great man. I will miss him. Prayers for everyone affected by his death.

Mark, thank you for the legacy of determination, faith and friendship you have left behind. Love, hugs and prayers to family and friends.

Please accept my most sincere condolences for the loss of Mark Warawa. It is very sad and hard on the family and friends and loved ones. Mark emanated strong faith and decency to those who were fortunate enough to know him. People like him are increasingly rare in today’s world.

Mark showed us how to live and he showed us how to die. Mark was the first and only current politician to reach out to me when I was first elected in my very short political career. Before anything else and any rhetoric he cared about people. He didn’t just want to argue but he wanted results and he knew how to go about it in the kindest way possible. I for one will always be grateful for his kindness to me! He left countless memories and legacies that will live on.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences for the early passing away of the Conservative MP Mark Warawa due to cancer. He will ever live in the hearts of the people and his family.

I would like to send to the whole family my sincere condolences. May our Lord Jesus Christ comfort you with the fact that Mark is in Heaven with our Lord. And he can say like the apostle Paul said better to be with the Lord than to be in the flesh. I believe he is rejoicing before the Lord, and waiting till all the family and relatives and friends and family in the Lord will join him. Mark left a very good legacy and was serving the Lord sharing God's love with everyone. Let us all continue in the same path. I will continue to pray for the family. Sending my thoughts and prayers your way. Blessed Regards, Antonina.

I first became aware of Mr. Warwara when my daughter was studying at Trinity Western University. He was her MP in Langley and she was becoming interested in politics. I followed his posts on facebook. He was such a great man of integrity and faith. Knowing his life is not over, but living out his faith with his Heavenly Father. My condolences to his family. Praying for peace and comfort while you grieve his life on this earth.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Mark will always be remembered for his kindness and compassion, and for his unwavering dedication to his family, community and country.

My thoughts and prayers are with Mark's family. Mark will be very missed. Our world is a little less without Mark's compassion, kindness and graciousness.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for giving Mark to be a light to our nation in the midst of so much darkness, may his leadership & example be an inspiration to the next generation!

What a life well-lived and honouring of his Father in heaven! Mark was a well-respected man in politics, as well as in his home town of Langley. He will be very much missed in his stand he took on the value and sanctity of life. Well done good and faithful servant.

I was very impressed with your concerns about palliative care. I work with a holistic model of the Mind / body / soul. The mind and body are starting to be recognized in our medical model and I am working very hard to introduce the soul to Wellness. I will think of you as I continue my work and even though we never met I know you were a great person and I will do as much as I can to carry on your dream.

MP Mark Warawa established an Environmental Heroes award for local residents, businesses, and non-profits more than a decade ago and I was honored to receive a nomination . The world and its environment is so much richer when you Mark were here blessing the place we all call earth . R.I.P. Mark Warawa ..... A Good Man

Mark, I wish to thank-you for your service to Langley for all those years. For always responding to my emails even though you were a busy man. For giving a guy who has questioned the existence of God much to think about with your unfailing faith. May you enjoy heaven free from pain. Dave

Those we love don´t go away. They walk beside us everyday. Unseen, unheard, but always near. Still loved, still missed, and very dear. It´s hard to forget someone who gave so much to remember. Lovely memories that keep you smiling warmly. When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. May his soul rest in peace. My heartfelt condolences.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on your loss. As Clerk of the House of Commons, I knew Mr. Warawa to be a fine MP, kind and courteous, dedicated to his constituents and devoted to his family. He will be greatly missed.

Although Mark's death is sad, it is comforting to know he was a man of strong faith. I wish I could have seen him in his last days but I will fondly recall the many times Mark and I crossed paths on Parliament Hill, especially at the National March for Life. It was in Cambridge, ON a few years ago where my wife and I had dinner with Mark when we learned of his love for his wife, Diane and his love for God. Mark mad his mark on this great nation. And he did it with compassion, dignity and always with a smile on his face! God Bless you and your family!

Sincere condolences for your sad loss. I shared great time with Mark between 2006-2015 as MP colleague. He was greatly appreciated. He was so proud of his family and his « beautiful Langley ».
