Paul Roy Hendershot
June 15th, 2020
It is with the utmost gratitude for a life well-lived, that we announce the passing of our beloved Paul. He was predeceased by parents Howard and Margaret Hendershot. He leaves behind his loving wife of 45 years, Linda, siblings Kathleen (Jacques) Hilary (Malcolm), and Bill (Suzanne). He will be missed by son Aaron (Heike), granddaughter Lotte, daughter Megan (Matt), grandson Fletcher, and cherished nieces, nephews and friends.
Paul grew up in Harrow, Ontario, moving to Windsor as a teen. A talented athlete, Paul played football for Kennedy Collegiate, receiving consecutive All-City Athlete of the Year Awards. Playing football for the Golden Hawks was the highlight of his time at Waterloo Lutheran University. Deep bonds and lasting memories with were forged with team mates. Paul was voted MVP in his final year. A CFL draft brought Paul to Edmonton, where he met Linda. They moved to the Lower Mainland in the 70’s, where Paul played for the Vancouver Kats Rugby Club.
In 1980, Paul founded an industrial sweeping business. Hard work, integrity, and long hours contributed to his success until he retired in 2019. He will be remembered for his love of sports and respect for nature, which he imparted to his children. Paul was a content soul, possessing the perfect combination of creativity and capability, evidenced by his unique backyard pond, rooftop deck, and many other labours of love. He loved his kids and was so proud of them.
The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to health care professionals who cared for Paul. In lieu of flowers, Paul would have liked you to get out and enjoy nature; we encourage you to do so in fond memory of him. Donations can be made in his honour to Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence for the family.

We will always remember Paul as a Man with a strong moral character. A true friend who was always interested in how everything was going with us and our Family. We always left Paul’s home from visiting with him and Linda, always looking forward to a return visit❤️❤️
Sorry to hear of my dear childhood friend Paul's passing. Paul & I were neighbours in Harrow and shared many childhood adventures together. Paul always had a crazy new idea for us to plan. From digging escape tunnels in the 3rd Bush, to planning to build a one man helicopter and submarine, Paul always had some new idea in his mind. I still remember Paul devising a method to smash an old tv screen with an elaborate ramp system- and of course glass went everywhere! We shared many good times in our adjoining backyards playing football and making hockey rinks for many year. I have many great memories of our times together over the years. My condolences to his family.
Dearest Linda, Meg, Matt, Arron and Heike: What a beautiful tribute to Paul... may your hearts be comforted in the days ahead and may the precious memories of Paul be a treasure to your hearts. I fondly remember how Paul deeply touched my heart with kindness whenever I would visit, bringing me a drink, putting out a comfy chair, offering food - making sure I was well cared for. His simple gestures were a comfort to my soul. Bless you Paul. Much love to you all.
We hope you can find comfort with all of the love that surround you today and going forward love Carrie and Mitch
We remember having some great times with you and Paul, Linda - dinner on the roof top, croquet on the front lawn, times around the campfire and the cruise to Alaska to mention a few. Paul loved life and loved his family even more. It is too soon for him to be gone but that wasn't our choice but God's will. Pauls earthly assignment sadly is done but we can look forward to seeing him again one day. May God bless you with his love and presence in this time of sorrow. Love to all the family Brian and Nancie

Will be missed, just a great guy
We love Paul and miss him along with you! Sending our love and prayers.
Dear Linda and Family: Paul was a very special friend and will be remembered and missed by so many. Bette and I send our love and condolences to all the family. You will be comforted by your many special memories and I would like to share a few of mine. I knew Paul all my life. We grew up together in Harrow, and I have many happy memories of wonderful days shared by our families at the cottage on Lake Erie, of sleepovers and sword fights with wooden swords and garbage can lids. I learned early that Paul was very competitive - a quality that served him well through life. One summer we built a soap box kart in Paul’s backyard and won first prize at Harrow Fair for best looking kart and second for fastest. Paul was not pleased with the second place. I have a funny memory of Paul and me in grade 8 learning to dance in the enclosed front porch; his mom and mine having a good chuckle. As adults we kept in touch and I saw Paul grow into a fine man, dedicated husband, loving father and hard working, very capable business owner. I had great respect for Paul and cherish our long friendship. I will always remember him as a good friend, loving husband and family man. Much love to you all❤️❤️
