Involved with Kinsmen, K40, “Muggers” @ Kin Village, Legion both Tsawwassen & Ladner, of course the TOOBS. Countless Charities and hours of volunteer time – always made time to stop and chat to everyone!

Thank you for all the support from our dear friends and family, raise a toast and have a wee dram of Scotch with our family to honour Doug, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, friend, Volunteer and mentor.

I met Doug in the 80's - he was our liquor rep at the Homestead Pub. Shirley, Diane, Linda & myself all had the pleasure of chatting with him on his visits. He was the nicest guy, genuine, cheerful and such a gentleman. Over the years, we would meet again at Beaches Restaurant at the Tsawwassen Inn. Then that closed and we went on our way. A what a nice surprise years later to meet him one day after we had moved into the Royal Oaks! It was always uplifting just to say hi in passing. Sincere condolences to all the family.
I'm grateful to have crossed paths with Doug. He was on KinVillage’s Board of Directors when I was hired. Though he retired from the Board shortly after that, over the past ten years I had many occasions to chat (and laught!) with him, usually in the Community Centre. I always felt welcomed, supported, encouraged and inspired by Doug and am so blessed to be part of his legacy that is the KinVillage community. Marilyn, my deepest condolences to you and your family. I will miss him too.
I have very fond memories of Doug when I worked with him at Corby Distilleries. When I was “the new kid on the block” he made me feel very welcome and always made me laugh — a lot! One of the things I remember about Doug was he was always trying to stir the pot in the office. I would see Doug occasionally in Ladner and he always had a big smile and gave me a hug. I was always so happy to see him. My condolences to Marilyn and your family.
Dear Marilyn, I was so sorry to hear of your loss and I share in your sadness as you remember Doug. I am sure you will recall that Doug was Derek's boss when they both worked at Simoniz so many years ago. Unfortunately Derek also passed way suddenly. It was on August 27, 2018. But I just wanted to send my condolences to you and your family and to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. Barbara
I was saddened to hear of Doug,s passing. My prayers and sympathies to the family. Being one of the Kinsmen Muggers that met for coffee I always enjoyed my discussions with Doug about local politics as he knew what was going on behind the scenes. Doug will be missed Sincerely Rod Douglas
Doug was one of my first new friends I met when I moved to Tsawwassen 10 years ago. He took me around and introduced me to some of his many friends. He conned me into going on the Strata Council but I never held that against him. I miss our daily chats and well as his great fellowship. It won't be the same without him. My condolences to Marilynn and the family for your loss. Sincerely. Jim
Doug, I will miss seeing you at the Buenos Dias Café for your daily (M-F) dose of Green Tea. You cheered me up when ever I was down. You brought laughter to the café every morning. I will miss your smiling face and all our dirty little sexy jokes.... HaHa! LOL. Not only will all the "Muggers" miss you but so will Pawan and my wife Lygia. I wonder what I'm going to do with all my Green Tea stock that I had saved for you since we closed for Covid, but don't you worry some day we'll drink it all together. I'm sure "DAD and your "Parole Officer" are going to be lost without you. But all jokes aside I will miss you at your spot on the table every time I look there and most importantly on my Birthday 17th Sept will say a special prayer for you every year. You RIP my Buddy till we meet again for a cup of Green Tea. Much Love to you Marilynn and the rest of the family. Doug will be sorely missed. Chef Adrian Dias.
Even when Doug was no longer a volunteer on the Board of Directors he kept giving both thoughtfully and financially. He and his friends made it possible to enjoy the patio in the Community Centre with their donation of outdoor furniture and I’m sure he made many other contributions that I don’t even know about. I thoroughly enjoyed dropping by to see him and his friends at their coffee time in the café so we could have a laugh with the latest jokes I was able to tell them. Doug was a significant contributor to KinVillage and along with all members, I will truly miss him. My sincere condolences to Marilynn and family.
It was through KinVillage where we volunteered, wearing different hats, I started in the Care Home when a few of us initiated the auxiliary in order to raise funds and improve personal service for the residents. Doug, at that time, I believe, was on the board of the society. I didn't realise that he had belonged to the founding group of Kinsmen who had the foresight to create an "Aging in Place" location which developed over years into the Campus which now serves seniors living independently , through supported and assisted living to long term care, sharing the same social center so that friendships do not have to endure separations caused by relocations ,moving from one level of service to the next. Our paths crossed in many different KinVillage connected projects and events. My later evolution was with ElderCollege Delta, a low cost locally provided Third Age learning resource for those over 55 - learning just for the fun of it. As I am running out of space, I'll just express the loss of Doug to our South Delta community will be felt by many who benefited from his leadership, good humour and volunteer spirit. My best wishes to Marilyn and family. Your strength will come form each other.
I've have known Doug to be the most gentleman of gentlemen it was an honor seldom today does you come across one such a friend as was Doug. these days his accent and voice had unmistakably uniqueness. one didn't need long to realise what a special guy was Doug His kindness, geltleness and sincerity was most genuine his laugh and generosity most warming and overall presence is something that is hard to find so much so that i do sorely miss him always making time for a quite kind or wave of hand very much missed As to the rest of the “Muggers” He hold place in my memories as do us all who knew him even for the briefest of moments is held in the highest esteem To his wife and family I am so sorrowed for your tremendous loss you’re in my thoughts and prayers.
Doug it was such a pleasure to have met you, and Marilynn many years ago. I shall miss your ever smiling face at KinVllage (when open again) with the rest of the “Muggers”. Bless you. Marilynn and family, you’re in our thoughts and prayers.
I've haven't known Doug long, but one doesn't need long to realise what a special guy he was. His kindness, commitment, laughter, generosity and overall presence were a staple here at KinVillage Community Centre. He will be sorely missed. Marilynn, Scott, Dean, and Lon, I am so sorry for your tremendous loss.
JD memories of your home being opened up to me will never be forgotten. Having to finish my meal before any of the boys could leave the table and laughing so hard I couldn't chew as the boys got frustrated with me just made it funnier. I remember you starting the lawn mower out the back window on the weekend to send a message to Lon and I that it was time to get up and get moving. I love you so much and always will. Rest in Peace Paul JD I have known you family since grade 4 and I love you all so much. My heart hurt when we heard the news and could not be with you all. You have been the kindest person and so loved by all. You made us part of your family and we will miss you forever. Until we see you again. Christine and family
