Narfi Vigfusson
September 16th, 2020
We share in this time of grief the love and memories.
On the afternoon of September 16th, 2020 Narfi Vigfusson passed away in his 80th year. His wife and mother of his 3 children, Marie, will lovingly remember him.
His legacy will live forever through his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Tina, Kimberly (Rob), Allan, Ashtin (Rick), Jasmin (Nick), Matthew, Charlie, Kaylie, Kayden, Catalina and Easton.
He was predeceased by: his parents, his siblings, his in-laws and his brother-in-laws.
He leaves to mourn many extended family members and friends, too numerous to mention but always thought of.
Narfi was born in Russell, Manitoba. He grew up on the family farm in Tantallon, Saskatchewan and eventually took over the farm from his father. After retiring from the farm Narfi resided in Yorkton, Saskatchewan and then moved to British Columbia where he resided for the last 20 years. But his heart always remained in Saskatchewan.
Narfi had many careers from working on the oilrigs, to construction, to welding, to mining and farming. But he was a man of many hobbies and talents: woodworking, playing guitar, cooking and story telling.
Narfi was in the army reserves and learned his cooking skills there. He weekly demonstrated them by whipping up his soup concoctions. He played the harmonica, guitar and sang. Narfi and Marie would spend hours singing together, and later in life you would find him in his comfy chair sitting, singing and strumming his guitar.
Anyone that knew him, also knew of his love for the Vancouver Canucks, win or lose he would always be rooting them on. To honour that love for the team, we thought it would be appropriate for him to wear his Canucks jersey as he is laid to rest.
He had the talent of weaving a great story that were funny, educational and sometimes questionable. His listeners could only tell by the twinkling of his blue eyes and his mischievous smile.
Narfi leaves us with a heavy heart, but full of memories and love.
Due to current conditions and honouring Narfi’s wishes, our family is planning an intimate celebration in BC, when current restrictions are lifted Narfi will be returned home to Saskatchewan.
There will be more information to follow at a later date.
There will be a time we can come together again.
You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence for the family.

Cherished memories I will always have of you dad. Riding the tractor/combine on the farm, being pulled behind the car on the toboggan, working on cub cars in your shop, just a few from my youth; but later when we all came for your 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration and the emotion you showed that day for your love of your family was truly a memory I'll always cherish. Love you Dad

My sympathy and love to you and all yours and Narfi's family. I fondly remember him teasing me when I was a young teenager! Many memories of his humour and his laughter linger with me. My love and hugs to his entire family!
I want to express my deepest sympathy to Auntie Marie, Tina, Kim, and Allan. Uncle Narfi was like a second father to me. I grew up visiting the farm while my mom and dad played cards with Auntie Marie and Uncle Narfi. I will forever remember eating supper in Bonanza in Brandon when I was very young. Uncle Narf did not enjoy his supper. He covered it with a napkin and made a cross. I was so embarrassed, but I now smile at the fond memory. Rest In Peace Uncle Narfi. You will always be fondly remembered and missed. Love you. ❤️
Uncle Narfi will be greatly missed, he had such a great sense of humour. Thank you for the laughs, always in our hearts. All our love to the family, Dwayne, Susan, Olivia, Patrick and Katy
