Marie Marthe Gosselin

May 2nd, 1924 ~ July 22nd, 2016

Marie passed suddenly and peacefully on July 22, 2016. She is now reunited with the love of her life, her husband Raymond, and their infant daughter as well as other family members and friends. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Karen and Lorraine (Marcel Magotiaux); sister Mary Anne Arnold; step-grandchildren Michelle Michaely (Rene and children Sawyer and Sage) and René Magotiaux (Suzy and children Owen and Drew); as well as her much loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Marie was born in Gravelbourg and lived there until Raymond’s passing in 2006, when she moved to Regina to be close to “the girls”.  She married Raymond, her childhood sweetheart, in 1947 and together they showed us what true love is. Marie enjoyed the rural way of life and took great pleasure in her large garden.  She was a hairdresser and truly enjoyed her long career.  Family and friends were important to Mom and held a special place in her heart to the end.  She greatly cherished every conversation and every visit.  She had a special gift for listening and understanding, and often said just the right thing at the right time.  Marie was a quiet, reserved person with an underlying sense of humor that sometimes surprised.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Paroisse Saint-Jean-Baptiste, 2517- 25th Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, July 30 at 1:00 pm. Private family interment at a later date in Gravelbourg Cemetery. We would like to say a special thank you to Lorelei Fletcher and the staff at Selo Gardens Personal Care Home for the wonderful care and kindness provided to Mom since 2009. Memorial tributes may be made, in Marie’s memory, to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 1738 Quebec Avenue, Unit 26, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan S7K 1V9 (www.heartandstroke.sk.ca).

Messages:

Karen, Lorraine & family, Heartfelt condolences for the loss of your Mom. She was such a nice lady and was my hairdresser when I was a teenager. Always hard to lose our parents regardless of our age or theirs.

Lorraine, so sorry to hear about your mom's passing. We are away & just saw notice. We will contact you when we get home. Take care. Hugs.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your mother, Karen and Lorraine. My mom passed away also on May 27. She was 101.

Karen, Lorraine and family, I was saddened today to read about your Mom's passing. I remember Marie very well. She was my first hairdresser!! We also used to have lots of fun with your family out at the cabin and making sausage. I speak on behalf of my sister Karen and brother Randy, when I say that we send our deepest sympathy to all of you.
