Jared Metivier

December 11th, 2016

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, son, brother and uncle Jared Metivier at the age of 50 years on December 11, 2016 in Regina, SK.  He is survived by his wife Michelle Protz, brothers Loren and Kevin, sisters Ruth (Diane), Jule and Leah. Numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Predeceased by his father Lloyd Metivier and mother Audrey Metivier.  A private Celebration of Life will be held for the family at a later date. Friends wishing to donate may do so to any Humane Society in Canada.

Jared was born in Penticton, BC on April 5, 1966 and grew up in the Okanagan Valley the youngest of six children.  He enjoyed playing sports such as hockey and baseball.  Jared excelled at school academically and had a very close network of friends at Pen-Hi.

Jared worked in the aviation and cooking industry. His love of aircrafts was very apparent as he was very excited to return to aviation as a refueller with Lockhart Aviation in Regina.  He was well respected and admired by his co-workers.

Jared had a love for animals and his two furbabies, Norway and Sherman, who were always being photographed and posted on social media for everyone to enjoy. They truly were his children.

Jared was an avid sports enthusiast.  His favorite teams being the Vancouver Canucks, Seattle Seahawks, and Saskatchewan Roughriders.  He had a vast collection of sports memorabilia which he proudly displayed in his new man cave at his home in Regina.  He attended Roughrider games and met many sports players at special events whenever possible.

Jared had a wicked sense of humour, a love for others and animals, was a fantastic cook, and enjoyed researching all different subjects on the internet.  His friends and family will miss his daily banter on social media.  He will be forever remembered and loved by all who knew him.

It has to start somewhere…

It has to start sometime…

What better place than here…

What better time than now…

So sad to hear of Jared's passing. He was a student in my class at Pen-Hi 1981-1982. In reflection, it was an amazing class, full of witty, thought-provoking and genuinely humanistic students who cared deeply for each other. Jared was very much a valued member of that community. He certainly was one of the best. I will miss him too.

I worked with Jared at the airport. He definitely wasn't afraid to voice his opinion. Very dedicated to doing a good job and no bs from anyone. Will miss seeing the debate topics he got into on Facebook and pictures of his 3 loves, Michelle, Sherman and Norway. I'm sure anyone that was friends with him Michelle all feel like we know you! Imagine he is stirring up stuff up above. To all of Jared's friends and family, sorry for your loss and I am glad I had to opportunity to know him.

We will miss you Jared. Your appetizers and help at family gatherings were top notch. We know you will be looking out for Michelle from heaven and may you find peace there.
