Rose Jo-Anne Pipko (Verheul) of Regina, SK passed away on April 14, 2016 just days after her 88
th birthday. Rose was born on April 9, 1928 in Selkirk, MB. She grew up on the family farm and married Walter Pipko on May 8, 1948. Together they had 5 boys – Ken (Kate), Bob (Alana), Jim, Terry (Jackie) and Bryan (Carroll) and later adopted twins, Randy and Sandy (Dion). She will also be greatly missed by her 15 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, her brother Adrian, sisters Betty and Kay and their families, and numerous friends. Rose became a foster mother in 1970 and for 32 years continued to generously care for numerous children including the warm hearted Bonnie. It was no surprise that Rose’s kindness extended to friends, neighbours, strangers, and animals. She was the ultimate motherly figure, stepping in to calm babies, give advice, lend an empathetic ear, to console and create a smile. Rose was what you would expect from a lady name Rose, as she exhibited hospitality and courtesy, which was seen in her welcoming of others to her kitchen table for a cup of coffee and plate of homemade cookies. Although she was a lady of grace and politeness, she was not without a mischievous side and sense of humour and would take great pleasure in surprising people with her witty and sometimes shocking comments. She enjoyed being outside, working in her garden, planting flowers and going for walks. She prepared wonderful meals for her family and was famous for her homemade perogies and pickles. Upon Rose’s request, no service will be held. Friends so wishing to make donations in Rose’s memory can do so to the Grace Hospice, William Booth Care Home or the Lung Association of Saskatchewan.
She lived a good and wholesome life and will be remembered fondly by all family, friends and acquaintances. Rest in peace, Rose.
