Vera Louise Wright
February 26th, 1958 ~ August 25th, 2016
Vera Louise Wright passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at the age of 58 years. Vera was predeceased by her father Alex Gutowski; uncle George Steinbach; and father and mother in-law Lawrence and Loretta Wright. Vera is survived and will be dearly missed by her “boys” husband Kevin, sons Josh (Alison), Brandon (Jenine), Joel and dog Beamer; mother Valentine Gutowski; aunts Ina Steinbach and Renata Handley; brothers Walter (Janet) and Victor (Joan); sister in-laws Penny (Eric) Pollock and Aaron (Allen) Duchscher; close niece Nikki (Dean) and their family; as well as many other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Vera was born and raised in Climax, Saskatchewan and attended Frontier High School before moving to Regina to attend nursing school. Vera spent the vast majority of her career as a RN with NICU at the Regina General Hospital where she worked with many amazing friends and colleagues.
Vera enjoyed a number of past times including crafting, quilting, golfing, gardening and (always the mom) doing/watching whatever her boys were into at the time.
Vera loved the outdoors and travelling including trips to warmer climates with her husband Kevin, trips to Europe with her mother and brothers, golf getaways with “the girls” and house boating trips with close friends.
Vera was blessed with many close family and friends and she will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank the physicians and staff at the Pasqua Hospital, Allan Blair Cancer Centre, and Palliative Home Care who treated Vera with great care, dignity, and respect on her journey over the past 9 years.
A Celebration of Vera’s Life will be held on Friday, September 16th, 2016 at 6:30 pm in the Conexus Arts Centre – Theatre Lobby, 200A Lakeshore Drive, Regina, SK.
If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in memory of Vera to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre (www.saskcancer.ca/allan-blair-cancer-centre.aspx) or Regina Palliative Care (www.rpci.org).
