William Phillip Baumgartner

William Phillip Baumgartner, 82 years, died after a determined battle with cancer on Monday, April 3, 2017 in Regina.  Bill was born on December 14, 1934 on the family farm near Beausejour, Manitoba to Charles and Rose Baumgartner.  In 1955 he married the love of his life, Shirley Kjernisted, and together they raised two children. Bill attended Manitoba Teachers' College in Winnipeg and taught for four years.   In 1958 he began a long career with the Co-operative Retail System, managing local retails and holding several positions with Federated Co-operatives Limited, retiring as the Regina Region Manager in 2001.  Bill is survived by his wife Shirley and their girls, Lori (Dan Sanders) and Carla (Todd Miller).  He is also a beloved Papa to his grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Jordan (Megan and Ben), Spencer (Miranda), Kelsey, Joshua and Haley.  Due to Bill's wishes no funeral service will be held.  Memorial donations in Bill's name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Shirley, Lori and Carla - Leila and I were so sad to hear of Bill's passing following his battle with cancer. We were so fortunate to have had the privilege to get to know Bill and the Baumgartner family during our time in Regina. Dear Carla, Todd, Haley and Josh, We have heavy hearts hearing about the passing of your Dad, Carla, and Haley and Josh's Papa. It was always a pleasure to exchange a hello over the fence and see the joy in his and your Mom's faces visiting you and the kids. His kind and gentle nature lives on in all of you. Take care.
