Eric Boese

March 22nd, 2017

Eric Boese, AKA E Rock, father, brother, grandpa, friend, musician, avid music lover and grumpy old bastard, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 surrounded by loved ones.

Eric will be greatly missed by his beautiful, complicated, extended family:  Jason (Teresa), Sherry (Tim), Emily (Erwin), Naomi (Josh), Cecilia (Christopher), Hanah, Patti (Rob), Elizabeth, Claire, and Ruby, and many, many other friends and family.  Eric was predeceased by his father, Charles Kidby, his mother, Selma Boese, and his brother, Garnet Boese.

Eric loved music and played bass and guitar for most of his life. He played in bands and loved to jam regularly with friends. Even in the hospital in the last couple months he had all his music with him and his good Bluetooth speakers so that he could listen to his favourite musicians, possibly louder than the staff and other patients would have liked.

Eric was passionate about social and environmental justice, reflected through his years working in Labour and Justice for the Government of Saskatchewan and his tireless union work with SGEU.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Green Party of Canada or to the Prosthetic Department of Wascana Rehabilitation Centre. Or just buy the best damn quality tissues you can find and donate them to the Palliative Care Ward at the Pasqua Hospital.

To celebrate Eric’s life, a memorial will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 1:00 pm in the Unitarian Centre, 2700 College Avenue, Regina, SK.  All are welcome.

Messages:

Eric was a dedicated public servant whose commitment to those we serve was exemplary. Throughout his career Eric was dedicated to the principles of fairness and equity in serving citizens and employers. Eric took an active interest in his workplace and the colleagues he worked with, advocating on their behalf, providing a voice that was always interested in making us better. Gone too soon ! Condolences to all who knew and love him. May cherished memories of happier times bring comfort during this difficult time.

I worked at SGEU for 25 years, and for most of those years I knew Eric as a dedicated and diligent shop steward who always did his best to work for and speak for the union members he represented. Eric's passing is a loss to the Left, and especially to his family and friends. My heartfelt condolences to all.

My condolences to the Boese family. Eric believed in fairness and equality. He walked the talk.

So sorry to read about Eric. may he rest in peace. Would love to get a reply from Pati if possible.

I met Eric back in 1968, when he was living with his sister at their brother's house at 1800 Retallack Street. Our band needed a bass player and Eric fit the bill. He truly enjoyed playing music, especially when he thought it would make a difference in people's lives. Goodbye old friend.

Had several occasions to talk with Eric. Always working for a better world. He will be missed. May His Memory Be a Blessing to All Who Knew Him

My condolences to the Boese family. We came from different places however when the door closed we shared our experiences, frustrations, humour and life's joys and of the latter he had many. I will miss him dearly.
