Dorothy Bernice Giesz

September 24th, 2018

Dorothy Bernice Giesz passed away with her family by her side on Monday, September 24, 2018 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina, SK at the young age of 88 years. As per Mom’s wishes, a funeral will not be held. Her ashes will be spread on her son Dale’s grave in Kamloops, B.C. along with other locales she enjoyed in her many travels with friends and family.

Bernice was a fun-loving person who had several wonderful friends and relatives she shared memorable times and vacations with. She enjoyed many years of curling at the Tartan Club, playing bridge in tournaments with her BFF, Doreen, and many other lady friends. She was a huge Rider Fan for 50+ years and you need not disturb her when The Young and the Restless were on TV. Bernice’s career in Regina was with Galvan Plumbing & Heating Ltd. owned and operated by her and her husband, Ed, and with Cindercrete Products and Estevan Brick as their accounting staff. In her retirement years, Mom volunteered at the Pasqua Hospital for 10+ years.

Bernice was a determined woman who had very strong convictions.  Being the oldest of 14 children, born to Phyllis and Harold Turner (deceased), kept her busy helping her Mom raise her younger siblings and provided her own children Eddie, Dale and Arlene, with a huge extended family they called their own. Lots of fun, family functions were had by all.

Mom’s passing has left a huge hole in our hearts, but we know she is in a better pain-free place, and has reunited with bygone family and friends. She will be sorely missed by her children Eddie and Arlene (Garry); grandchildren Ryan (Erin), Dan, Sara (Chris), and Michael; great-grandchildren Liam, Ethan, Marijane, Luca, Isla, Tony, Dylan, and Cassidy; daughter-in-law Mary.

Eddie and I would like to thank the staff at the Pasqua Hospital who provided Mom comfort in her final journey; namely Drs. Alport and Pepplar, 4A nurses Jude and Stacy, and of course our own beloved Erin with her guidance and comfort.
