Elizabeth "Liz" Jane Haubrich

December 20th, 2018

It is with profound sadness that the family of Elizabeth Haubrich (née Moss) announces her sudden passing on December 20, 2018 at the age of 58 years.

Liz is survived by her loving husband, Vern, of 34 years; her children Christopher (Katie), Sydney (Stuart), and Ben; parents Avis and Graham; sister Lynette (Nick), brother Brian (Liz); and her nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

Born November 20, 1960 in Hobart, Tasmania, Liz graduated from Hobart’s Rose Bay High School before moving to Sydney to begin a career with Ansett Airways. Liz first met Vern in Sydney, Australia in 1983 and they were married there on November 17, 1984. Liz – always brave, resolute, and devoted – moved to Hodgeville, Saskatchewan with Vern in the spring of 1985. They settled there, starting a family with the birth of Christopher in 1987, followed by Sydney in 1991, and Ben in 1993.

Liz touched countless lives both in her native home of Australia and in her second home on the Canadian prairie. She was active in the Hodgeville community, most notably in her “dream job” as the village librarian for almost 25 years where she shared her passion for reading and the arts.

Liz was an artist. She created beautiful paintings, meals, gifts, letters, drawings, flower gardens, recipes, blankets, slippers, and keepsakes. Each creation was a masterpiece; a memento of her talent. In her every endeavour, Liz was generous with her time, kindness, and love.

Liz lived with grace, joy, and compassion. She was an outstanding wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend, family member, and soon-to-be-grandmother. She brought the Australian sunshine with her wherever she went. Liz will be forever missed.

A Celebration of Liz's Life will be held at the Mackenzie Art Gallery, 3475 Albert Street, Regina, SK on Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. with reflections from her family at 3:00 p.m. If friends so desire, donations to the Hodgeville Library in Liz’s memory may be made through Chinook Regional Library.
