Terry Fred Keim

Terry Fred Keim passed away peacefully in the Pasqua Hospital, Regina, SK on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the age of 77 years.

 Terry is survived by his wife Irene, their children Donna Grier (Ron) of Edmonton, AB and their four children Ian, Mathew, Cameron, Laura, and great-granddaughter Elizabeth; Andrew Keim (Elissa) and their son Warren of Regina, SK; Brent Keim (Shelley) of Manning, AB; and his brother Jim Keim (Gloria) of Lethbridge, AB and their two children Les and Bradley. Terry is predeceased by his parents Fred and Geraldine Keim of Acme, AB.

 Terry was born July 5, 1940 on the family farm near Acme, AB. He graduated from SAIT in 1959 with a diploma in Electronics Technology. After graduation Terry went to Ottawa for intensive training with the Federal Government’s Department of Communications in Radio Operations.  Terry traveled extensively in the Northwest Territories and was posted to Inuvik, NWT where he met and married Irene Sturgess in 1964.  

 Terry was a lifelong avid Ham Radio Operator (VE5TK) who spent countless hours calling CQ and collecting cards from all over the world.  While living in Winnipeg in the early 1970’s, Terry used his skill and equipment to alert the Canadian Coast Guard and assist in the rescue of a stranded sail boat operator trapped in the sea ice outside of Gjoa Haven, NWT.

Terry served 36 years in the Federal Public Service, most of which was in the NWT. He championed many policy changes that continue to positively impact the lives of people of across the North.

 Terry had many interests including his family Genealogy and the German’s from Russia Organization.  Through tireless research, Terry traced his family heritage in Germany as far back as 1705. Terry was also a dedicated member of the German Wine Society where he fulfilled the duties of treasurer for over 13 years.

A Celebration of Terry’s Life will be held on Friday, February 16, 2018, doors open at 6:00 pm, in the Crave Kitchen and Wine Bar, 1925 Victoria Ave, Regina, SK.

The family would like to thank the healthcare providers for the dedication and care they provided to Terry throughout his illness and at the end of his life, as well as the staff of College Park.
